First char(s) of new season?

With that ladder reset thread looming I thought I'd start up another one of these threads... oh what the hell, let's make it a poll.

I've still yet to be around for a ladder reset. I always seem to not have internet or something when the reset actually occurs, so then I'm stuck trying to catch up weeks or even months later.

The usual Hammerdin/Javazon + Orb-TK Sorc combo doesn't really interest me all that much for some reason. I've never made a Trapper on the realms, and they're obviously very capable untwinked chars, so I was thinking I might go that route for a change.

On the other hand, I did rather well with an untwinked Light/TK Sorc on West about half way through this past season (my ping is about double on West what it is on East). At the same time, she wasn't all that great at running Hell Meph, and a Meph runner can be extremely useful at the beginning of the season.

So what are y'all planning to make?

I'm going in with a Plague Jav/FA Hybrid.

I love the build and I finally have all the kinks worked out.

Now I'm just waiting on the reset.

A Fury wolf would be my first choice. My current lightly twinked wolf just tanked a conviction aura'd, PI, Hell Hephisto. (Only to get a Fal) This guy can tank NM FE's(with the help of Infernosrides and Smoke armor), though he did shy away from Geleb.:wink3: The Hunger skill allows him to take on OKs without fear of IM. This guy is tough.

I'll make another strafer, cause I can play them in my sleep.

And I'll make a Bone-summoner, pure summoners are just too boring.

#1 choice, Orb/TK, but your run-of-the-mill lightning trapper will be able to do quick team Baal runs with a Lower Resist wand in inventory + capable shadow + durable mercenary + a little mindblast for safety. If you're looking to actually climb the ladder, I'd push for this one.

If you're planning on building that first MFer, Orb/TK can't be beat. Teleport + durability + relatively fast killing.

*IF* ladder resets again I want to play. My first character would, of course, be hard to choose. I've never started with a hammerdin, and they can be made with basically a high resist pala shield and low rune words. They can run nm meph quickly with high mf, and overall the game favors them alot. There is the cheese factor of playing the most "ezmode" character, but usually for first characters i think cheese is fine.

Traditionally, I would play a dual elemental sorc. But those tend to die if they arent geared to the teeth (at least for me, as I always end up skimping on FHR and getting recover locked and dying.

So if ladder restarts, I will probably play a poisonmancer. Because I am fairly confident I can do it untwinked, because they dont need alot of points for their primary skills, because they can solo most anything, they add value to any other characters you run with, especially elemental ones and because they are unique and fun. However, i forget how they do running bosses, but, we'll see.

So for me it will probably be other.

Hehehe if the ladder ever resets ?? OK Im game - I'll make a Summoner cause they can solo the game and are good magic finders ...

I'd probably start with a WW/Conc hybrid IK barb. Even just starting out, IK peices are easy to get. Even the armor could usually be had with a lucky hell forge drop. If not, I'd simply make a smoke and trade for one of those many two-handed exceptional uniques that have all res on em.

That'll hold me off till I complete the set. Once that happens, I'll have a well-rounded character that'll won't excel at any one thing, but be capable of running anything.

Hey, someone has to BO all you people.

She's done in her mid 50's, half way through NM, which will happen VERY quickly. Then all your following characters develop quicker. As do the inevidible rebuilds.

Poll is closed?!?

What kind of messed up poll are you running here?

Anyway... my standard ladder reset approach - Javazon to get the charms I need to not die on my Sorc, then the Orb Sorc to make off with Andariel and Mephisto's goodies.

I'd probally going shapeshifting druid honestly. Fury or Fireclaw and hope to be able to trade for a tomb reaver if I go fury.

There's a thread floating around in the Druid Forum (called something like "Is Tomb Reaver all it's cracked up to be?") where SSoG links to some detailed calculations showing that TR isn't that great for PvM. Even cheaper options like Windhammer and upped Ribcracker are supposedly better. You might want to check it out.

I'd probably make a lightning trapper if I was wanting to race. Great team baaler + can mf e/s/p, trav, pits, etc fairly easy with the help of a good merc and shadow. Second char would obviously be the super boring meteorb ^^

act? 10 char
I've got a Hammerdin and a CE Summoner, both untwinked, at the beginning of Act 3 waiting for me to take the plunge. I've also got an Orb sorc towards the end of Act 1 that will hopefully get twinked by whatever I can find with the other two chars.
