First(and Last) HC death for awhile
Well, here's the story.....
I have been playing D2 for 4 or 5 years on and off, sometimes seriously and sometimes not. Well, afte breaking my WOW addiction, I decided "Hey, why don't I come back to the good ol' D2 for awhile."
Not a bad idea at all. The game still had a certain greatness to it even after all these years. But after a few weeks, I fell into the old grind, and the game became monotonous without my old friends to play with and with all the dupe lag doing on.
So I decided to give HC a shot. I must say that it was the most fun I have ever had in Diablo 2, and I am very sorry that I didn't play this way from the start.
One day the lag lifted, and I began to play my generic first HC fishymancer more seriously. All was going well, until tonight. I had had some close calls, but decided to keep going despite the fact that I have a ton of homework to do and such.
So I am sitting here at my computer, blasting ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition through my speakers and tackling hell mode. Having just dinged to 70, and having done all this completely solo, I felt pretty good. I was in Tristram fighting the zombified remains of a geriatrich blacksmith and his various chronies as the song grew to a close.
The final words to the song came through my speakers "There is no end to my life, no beginning to my death. DEEEAAAAATTHHH ISSSSS LIIIFFFFEEEE!!"
and as Greg Lake's note ended, some uberly enchanted undead archer steps out from behind Gris and fires an arrow at me, past all of my minions, and it connects with my face, dropping my ~900 life (which was at about 70%) to 0instantly.
So, that having been my first real HC character, I feel good about what I accomplished, but right now I feel too frustrated to start any new characters. The song was just a very fitting end to Veers_TypeNecro.
RIP buddy.
Even though I am new to posting here, I have been reading these forums for years, so farewell to USWEST for awhile (even though I live in New York). I'm gonna go learn how to play keyboard.
And thanks to all of you whose posts have helped me get the most out of Diablo 2 in the past. I just can't do it anymore right now. But hell, I know I'll be back

.
So be safe guys, and keep playing HC because it hands SC's a** to itself ten billion times over.
