    Firefox plugin question

Okay, that iTunes thing reminded me - I've been meaning to replace the crappy download function in Firefox for a while now. I understand there are a lot of plugins available, what's a good one for downloading? It'd be nice if there was one that allowed you to stop and continue downloads like Getright does. Anyone know any good ones?

Also, are there any other neat plugins that would be worth downloading?

I use 'download statusbar' for downloading.
'text link' makes anything starting with http:// into a clickable link, very nice.
'tabbrowser preferences' has lots of tab options. Don't ask me which, I've used it forever.
'Adblock' can block any ad (or picture or flash) that you don't want to see anymore. It's especially handy to block whole domains of advertising companies.
'stumbleupon' is fun for finding new websites of your interest.

Not when you are running almost 20 site-specific greasemonkey scripts. (Any KoL'er worth their meat lives by the greasemonkey.)

there are only a few sites that visit daily that I think needs to be cleaned up. Stylish also has some nice global features that I think are nice and plus there's no need to restart the browser.

Man, that greasemonkey thing looks like WAY too much effort.

I like Adblock, Forecastfox (there may be better weather plug-ins for weather), and tab mix plus.

Also, I recently instsalled DownThemAll, but I have not worked with it enough to know if it's any good.

you can use download accelerator plus, that lets you pause downloads (if the download supports it).

So far Ive got FasterFox, a weather one (I forget which), a time/date one, a footie score update thing, & a few themes (blueshift is my favorite so far). Tried a few others but they werent so good. While we're at it, is there any way of making it so when you check your hotmail via Messenger, or go to M$ update, it opens firefox not IE? Or is that too much to hope? Is it safe to completly remove IE from my system or will Bill Gates send his heavies round my house for some 're-education?'

Flashget is a good alternative to Getright, it's freeware and won't bother you with "upgrade to full now" messages every half a minute. It allows resuming and really makes downloads faster aswell. For smaller files I only use the Download Statusbar extension though.

you can set firefox to be the default browser if you havent done so, that usually works.

and you can remove IE completely , if you have win xp you dont need the cd to uninstall it nor reinstall it. (which kind of means its never off your harddrive literally o_o)

I allready have Firefox as my default, but if I go into start-> update it automatically opens an IE window, ditto if I try direct from the messenger screen to access my hotmail account. I thought the only solution might be to remove IE, so I guess I'll have to try it.
