Firefox gets a new face makeover

Firefox 2.0 beta 2 came out today and after using beta 1, i wasn't really expecting much. But after installing and opening up beta 2, i was quite surprised. The new default Firefox theme had been revamped into some much sleeker and nicer. The tabs were even changed, along with a small tab recovery button on the side similar to the Opera tabs.

much cooler than the old one.

note that some extensions will not work yet (damn you Fasterfox!!) but most of them should be alright.

I wish they would dump the hard plastic look, it really bugs me. Layouts of anything should either make me want to lick them or make me think I could gut someone with it.

The favicons next to the names in the bookmarks bar need to go, too cluttered.

I have always found the FF layout to be very top heavy and doesn't balance right with the pages. A lot of people hate the brushed metal look of Safari and switch it out for the normal Aqua look, both of those layouts are a light blue/grey and are easy to separate from the real content. There needs to be a balance between able to find the things you need to click on and the content being presented. Lots of programs both professional and open source fail on that front.

EDIT: Is that running on the Vista beta or do you have some sort of theme going?

We both have Keep It! next to last on our bookmarks toolbar.

Hopefully it will still look enough like a normal window to fool the boss.

Cheap plastic/shiny glass. The icons should still be subdued colors and not so eye grabbing. I have the same problem with the windows toolbar, the icons don't really tell you anything and they beep/move/make those damn balloon things. Call me a fan boy, but I find the OS X toolbar to be more useful and less annoying.

Given that FF can be customized with several different themes anyway, it's not the looks I care about one way or the other.

I'd be more interested in functionality improvements, such as lowering the amount of memory FF uses.

generally, i found that sticking with the default theme lowers the memoral usage.

I've had tab recovery on my current FF as an extension for some time now so not really impressed enough to load the beta.

if you accidently close a tab you can easily reopen that tab because it stores a list of tabs until you close FF, I rarely use it but it's nice when you need it

Tried to get a link to it but it appears as if they updated it and you can now only download the one that works with beta, sorry

    *Sticks with Firefox 3.0a*

There's something nice about downloading a new patch every afternoon.

I should show you my screen. when you take a screenshot, where does it save it?

I use maxathon and StyleXP. I know maxathon is on the XP engine, but I like it, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
