Finally! A use for the Weaken Curse!

The Weaken Curse
Many have said it was useless.
Many have questioned it's place in the game.

And they're still pretty much right..:)

But
it's large radius is useful in duels.:cool:

Nice, but why would you weaken somebody if you can also triple any physical damage done to him? o_O

Oh i know i know, vs. melee characters that have enough stacked resist to counter lower resistance anyway with a team of casters only :thumbsup:

why are you assuming necros are doing physical damage if the 2 most popular dueling subclasses are bonemancer and poisonmancer?

Weaken's huge range and insta-dmg reduction make it a great curse to use in duels. I use Weaken on alll barbs I duel. Why not decrep? well first of all, with a tweaked barb some'll have max increased speed anyway, making the slow effect of decrep fairly useless. Also, decrep's slow makes them hit more when they ww, since ww is now somewhat based on your frw.

I've used weaken to great effect... don't underestimate it in duels!

P.S. I mean.... I use weaken because bb told me to. I never knew aboutit before. EVER!!! :uhhuh:

weaken (and decrepify) both subtract in to your off weapon ed pool. they aren't going to make much of a difference in the damage that is dealt to you

seriously, weaken is only useful in an ancients game if your under 24.

I can see weaken be useful on [some] WW barbs but besides that it's just good for scaring MM by mentioning it in a post

Ex:K i got 20 SM, 20 RS, 1 CG/SM/GM/SR/R, now what? Should I max Weaken so, like, the monsters don't, like, hurt me, like, more, like, ya

(such a quality post for my 600th, but I was in a rush to get it befor we left so:flip: )

i suggested weaken a long time ago in my guide :p

why? because on barbs/WW sins, it lets them hit you more, and you certainly dont want that, plus its obscenely low radius makes it a pain to successfully cast on a character and not get attacked/killed, specially in the case of fast tele barbs and fast WW sins

Decreps silly rdius makes it hard to ever hit a fast or telport dueler. Hence my opening explanation of how Weaken is actually useful. Large radius.:)

Good point, but what of tele barbs, desynching chargers and the old lag factor....Decrep still rules man but Weaken is very easy to land on a char, whereas decrep can be hard.

for me, every bit counts in a duel, especially a close one.



I only put 1 point in my weaken on my pvp bonemancer, and his radius is larger than the screen itself. really nice to hit barbs/ww sins with offscreen, then have time to start casting your bone spells before they even can see you. with decrep it's nearly impossible to get them unless they're already on your screen, in which case it's much easier for htem to namelock-tele or dflight you.

Is it me or did the thread NOT specify Dueling. The weaken curse is often useful PvM.
basically it comes down to this if you face any pack of animals would you rather do double damage to a single monster or two if you got a merc out or take 1/3 the damage from multiple say, Tainteds in the cats?
This curse is espically useful for golem builds,bonemancers and melemancers whose builds dont have a pack of minions to use as meat.
I have not found any curse that has not been useful PvM. Remember how everyone thought that Taunt was useless untill everyone was instructed how to use it?

The thread was mainly an inside joke with the regular necro forum posters.:cool:

Your point is well taken, allthough, in a full year of playing a necromancer, I have not, more than once, purpoefully used the weaken curse for PvM. And not PvP until last night....

omg... And i thought it actually cut damage by 30%, and was wondering why you guys were poking fun at it... HAHAH... :lol:

Another n00b has been enlightened into the darker ways of the Necro... Oh wait, enlightened... darker.... doesnt make sense...

I never use Weaken. My Meleemancer has never cast weaken. I just can not see the point of weaken when I have so many other useful curses. All the other curses I can use and develop a strategy for. Just not for weaken.

As for Taunt. Except for the slow it looks a lot like Decrep. So I used it and Battle Cry on my Barb.

We were talking about team duels :) (your amazon mate shoots'm down) and if you're talking 1v1 then i say decrepify/lower resist is better :)
