'Film(s) of the week' thread. 25-04-05

Here we go again, new week, new thread... (It's a day late as I was off work ill yesterday).

This last week I have watched...

Fugative
Dracula
Event Horizon - One of my favorite films. :scared: :scared:
Master and Commander - Didn't think much of this one.
The Lion King - Don't ask... was drunk at the time...
Aladdin - See above, never let a woman choose...
Me, Myself and Irene - Really funny, Jim Carrey's a legend!

What film(s) have you watched this week and why did you love/hate it?

Regards,
KnightFall

Got exams so I haven't watched any yet (plus it's only tuesday). I plan to see Hitchhiker's on Saturday.

Of your films I absolutely love the Fugitive, Harrison Ford's best after Star Wars and Indiana Jones, IMO. Master and Commander I liked a lot, The Lion King is a classic, same with Aladdin. I miss the days when Disney made good films. Dracula is not Coppola's best but I still enjoyed it. The others I don't care for.

I can't wait for this to come out. Going to see it at the weekend I hope. I just hope it lives up to the books...

If it's only half as good as the books are then it will still be awesome. ;)

Oh and talking of Harrison Ford, I forgot I also saw Raiders Of The Lost Ark on TV. My mate bought the dvd box set of all the Indy films too. :)

Saw is a wicked film. Saw it a while ago and really enjoyed it. Did you guess who the 'kind-of-killer' was? I did from early on. I watched it with a few mates and we were all guessing who it was going to be. I think my mates guessed about everyone in the film by the end!

i just re-watched Dogtown and Z-Boys because the movie based on that documentary is coming out shortly, called Lords of Dogtown. It's based on the pioneers of the So Cal skateboarding scene in the early 70's. It's got a great soundtrack and it's narrated by Sean Penn. I really like this movie because I was an avid skater from '75 to '87, and I used to look at these skaters as superstars.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

Board studies now dominate my free time...well, that and the OTF.

Let's see....

Kung Fu Hustle (hilarious movie)
Resident Evil Apocalypse (I was surprised...I thought it would be absolutely terrible, it wasn't too bad - I guess the trick to these types of movies is expect to be disappointed and then just watch)
Cicade de Deus (City of God) - this movie was amazing. I recommend it to everyone.

Tomorrow I'm going to watch Talk to Her.

Return of the Jedi - Has a bit of a personnal connection. No matter how bad things are now, things will be OK later (so the Force Ghost victory celebration thing goes.)

23 days until Revenge of the Sith!

I saw "They Live". Think of it as a low-budget Matrix with aliens instead of robots. Oh yeah, and the pro wrestler who plays the mullet-sporting main character is a better actor than Keanu Reeves by far.

Shaolin Soccer: Loved it. Inspired me to reach new heights of mastery.

House of Flying Daggers: Pretty good. I liked the story but I'm getting tired of wire fighting, and and the scenery coloring was too bright.

Sin City: Good Lord. Overwhelmingly graphic. I sort of enjoyed it, but I was disturbed.

Full Metal Jacket=
I saw Sin City last week and I got really tired of the black, white, red, and yellow color scheme pretty quickly. It was alright. Like the reviews say, it's not for everybody.
