Feast your eyes on the snow-hose Sorc!

Chilling armor turns into a snow-hose for any monster that casts an "Inferno"-like ranged attack. These pic's don't do the effect full justice. It really has to be seen (and heard) in action!

This is now the ONLY armor I will ever use on a Sorc. Too cool... way too cool...

woah!

Better yet, gt 8 sorc's to hosile each other, cast thier armours, then inferno each other, then watch as the "snow hose" bounces from one to the other... and back again =D

The other one was sorc tennis, where you would get two sorcs with chilling armour to stand still, and one casts something like ice bolt, which starts off the chilling armour to bounce back attacks to each other. You could actually make a game of it if you move around.

The reason that I stopped using chilling armour, however, is quite a simple one - LEBs. If your sorc gets hit by a lightning bolt, she shoots back at the LEB and that sets off another round of lightning bolts. I just found it too dangerous to continue.

Uh oh...crap... I didn't think about that... :(

Maybe just use it in certain areas? Also, if you do this in 1.10, LEB's aren't as much of a problem.

That tennis thing sounds hilarious!

Thanks for the compliment Spook_Cell ;)

I'll keep you guys posted on my 1.09 Sorc. She was using Frozen armor but one day while I had her in Act 5 NM, I noticed that she automatically had 14 points in Chilling armor (+2 to Chilling from Snowclash belt and +12 more from other + cold skills items) and it gave her a higher defense bonus, plus it did cold damage so I started using that. She's HC and fortunately hasn't met any LEB's yet. In 1.09, Slvl 14 Chilling gives 23-25 cold damge per ice-bolt and it shoots in a continuous stream ... so I'd say one Ice-bolt per frame. So, we're talking about 25 * (23-25 cold damage) per second !! Needless to say, the Inferno casting Crush Beast's die rather quickly from it. Loads of fun to watch it in action.

I was checking Chippydip's 1.10 Skills Planner and it says damage has increased now to 23-31 per Ice Bolt at Slvl 14.

I just started a 1.10 Cold-tree specialist, so we'll see how it works out with her. I named her Snow_Bunny :D

They removed the ability of sorc tennis in .10. If you read the readme that comes with, it says that "Chilling Armor no longer strikes back at other Chilling Armor" (or something really close...I can't remember the exact wording.)

Hi Urlik and welcome to the SPF. I have an off-topic question:
your user name, is it a character from a Michael Moorcock novel?
It sound vaguely like something I recall reading about 10 or 15 years
ago.

Indeed it is! :D

From the Eternal Champion series... The Phoenix in Obsidian

In fact, if you'll notice.. my 'tar is Frazetta's "Silver Warrior" which is basically the same dude as Urlik Skarsol of Michael Moorcock's novel.

I am Urlik Skarsol! Count of the White Wastes! Lord of the Frozen Keep! Prince of the Southern Ice! Master of the Cold Sword! I will come in furs and metal, my chariot drawn by bears, my black beard bristling, to claim my blade, to aid my folk!

That describes exactly what's in the painting

Now THAT is cool. I'll have to make good use of that on my sorc build. If only for the check-this-out value. :D

:drink: Cheers!
