I recently procured an FM transmitter for my Zen Xtra, so I have been going nuts with podcasts to listen to while I drive.

I have only really gotten into 4 different ones so far:

The Circuit (a poker podcast made by Cardplayer Magazine)
Rounders: The Poker Show (obviously another poker podcast)
Craft Beer Radio (a radio show talking about the craft beer industry and they taste a different set of beers each week)
This American Life - The NPR show just went free for podcasts, so I have subscribed to this as well. My favorite show on NPR.

What are some of your favorites?

My fave is ReFrederator, but it's a video podcast . . . I'm not sure whether your Zen can handle those, and I am sure that I don't want you trying to find out while you're driving. :badteeth:

How does a podcast differ from just putting a video file up on the internet?

It has an RSS feed, so you can download all the associated media files automagically with your newsreader or iTunes or whatever you're using to arrange things. I get those cartoons downloaded without requesting them one by one, and when I plug in my iPod they get synched up so I'm ready to watch them on the train the next day.

    RSS feed?

So you download these things on your computer and transfer them to your iPod? Or do iPods connect to the internet now?

The iPod bone's connected to the computer bone
The computer bone's connected to the Interweb bone

Lots of sites have RSS feeds now to display their latest content . . . You can use a feed reader (there are websites that do this* or you can use software on your computer) to aggregate a bunch of feeds in one window and see what's been updated on all the sites.

    * You can add feeds to your http://my.yahoo.com/ page, or http://www.google.com/ig if you have a Google ID. There are also sites like newsgator and bloglines that do a good job of it.
