Re: Favorite Fast Food Joint...and why?

To be honest, at this point in my life (university), anything that is NOT: pizza, burgers, hot dogs, pizza pops, frozen whatever, various candies sounds good.

On another note, given the choice there is an Italian place called Alice Fazzoli's somewhat near campus that I love to go during the summer months.

Re: Favorite Fast Food Joint...and why?

this is a hard thread......

i have like at least 5 different pizza places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 5 different hamburger places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 10 different mexican places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 5 different asian (thai, chinese, etc) places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 3 different indian places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 5 different breakfast places within 10 minutes of my house
i have like at least 5 different chicken places within 10 minutes of my house
etc.. u get the idea...

(and that's jsut fast food places....i haven't even got to all the restaurants...movie theatres....a small airport...shopping malls...etc... bus loads of asians come over from asia just to go shopping at where i live...)

whatever fast food is slightly less unhealthy, fills me up, and costs the cheapest would be my favorite.

i was gonna put in hooters too... but didn't because it's a restaurant and the thread says fast food....

at hooters, i wanna take as much time there as i can (and i don't mean eating the food...) :D

unless i can order the waitresses...than i want the order to go...and race home.... :D

Cook Out - small chain here in NC. The burgers are meh, but the hotdogs are delicious (smothered in mustard and cheese sauce, of course) and the shakes are phenomenal. They have something like two dozen flavors, which is awesome.
Oh, and the barbecue sandwiches are pretty damned good, too.

Whew. Saved it on the last line, if I'm in the Carolinas BBQ is what I'm eating.

Depends where I am.
It's all good to me, though I really was thinking of the vinegar/pepper type.
In eastern North Carolina, the meat is chopped or sliced pig and the sauce is peppery vinegar. Traditional side dishes include coleslaw and hush puppies (perhaps a carry-over from the area's many seafood restaurants). These hush puppies are light and oval-shaped. The area of North Carolina west of Raleigh uses the same type of meat, but douses it in a sauce rich with vinegar and tomatoes. Western North Carolinians eat barbecue with bread and sometimes Brunswick stew, a stew made with vegetables, chicken and sometimes game.
Further south, in South Carolina and Georgia, the pig is still chopped or sliced, but it is doused in a yellow mustard-based sauce. In much of South Carolina, barbecue is served alongside light bread, coleslaw, and "hash" with rice. Hash is made of stewed organ meats. In this region, the skin of the pig is often removed and fried separately. (This delicacy should not be confused with the pre-packaged pork rinds popularized by George Bush).

Mustard based and not that ketchup crap, I hope?
Ewwwww....
Barbecue should be Lexington style, which does not mean ketchup. There is a tomato presence, but the good places make sure the vinegar and spices still dominate. If not that, Eastern style will do, but it can be too dry for my taste.
