farting bob's top 5 best skills
Well, Thursday came and went without much happening but I forgot the weekly top 5, so ill do 1 now. This week I’ve been wanting to do something positive. I’m in a good mood, and don’t want to spoil it, it’s a rare occurrence at the moment. So I’m going to ask you to choose the top 5 best Skills.
To answer this eternal question you must think of only 1.10 skill stats. You can take into account there killing speed, mass killability, defensive uses, or just how a skill looks.
As usual, read all 5, then decide.
Static field
Certainly 1 of the best 1 point wonders, this takes away 25% of enemies HP every time. Although in hell it cannot go below 50% life left with this skill, it works just as well against hell Baal in p8 as it does in normal den of evil p1. Although adding points just increases its range, just putting 1 point is enough as a sorc without loads of +skills just isn’t a good sorc, so you should easily be able to get this skill good enough to take effect from a safe distance. It’s the only skill in game to scale with /players settings, and this gives it a big advantage, although you still need something to take down the second half of the monster’s life.
Valkyrie
It’s the tanking-killing machine that is in almost every Amazon build that has ever been done. And considering people generally like this skill to be at slvl 17 or higher (at certain slvls the valk gets extra items that are put on, you cant see them, but at slvl 17 it gets a war pike and has a lot of other good stuff). It can hold its own as good as a merc in hell, but doesn’t cost 50k to replace each time, and can be cast right into the middle of the action or in between you and the enemy to block its path. Combined with a merc and a ranged attack by you, this can be a very effective minion.
Corpse explosion
This skill is by far the most effective necro skill. On players 1 it will kill a normal monsters in 1 or 2 bangs. Once you get the first monster down, the rest will follow. Blow him up, if no other monsters fall, they will be close to, in 2 bangs unless they are phys or fire resistant, you can guarantee that the pack will go. You can clear a pack of 20 monsters within seconds after the first kill. And this great skill is available when your still in act 1 norm, yet is effective in act5 hell, that has got to give it some bonus points.
Conviction
Although this skill is most effective in parties, in SP this skill owns. -125 res to all, taking immunties away of everything but the most determined monsters, and lowers the defence for melee. It is a shame that the most common build, the hammerdin, cannot use this, as it will not take away physical or magic resistance. But this is like a very good curse, always active, and does the job that multiple skills would normally have to do.
Teleport
Yep, the sorc gets another skill, and another 1 point wonder from the lightning tree. This is the best lifesaver in HC, and in SC it will save you a lot of bother and exp. For other builds this is just a convenience to get from A to B quicker, but it is so much more than that. Just point and click for instant movement, taking any mercs and minions you might be with as well. Without this skill, the sorc just wouldn’t be the same, and the fact that many people have amulets with charges on there, costing 10K or more to repair each time , and would rather have them than 1 with resists, +skills or other very tasty mods.
So that’s the 5, sorry if I haven’t included others, this really could have been a top 10, there’s that many good skills. But I tried to choose the best in a general game, not just against specific monsters or doing a specific run.
