Farming for gems?

anyone have any suggestions for gem farming? is this something you can farm for or just kill lots of mobs anywhere

Just kill as many monsters as possible, in nightmare or hell mode. Cows, CS and WSK are particularly crowded.

Flayer jungle nightmare for grand charms and flawless gems purely on monster density.

As a sorceress you could blitz through the whole map acts 1-5 to check out for gem shrines.

I always feel like I get tons more flawless gems when I run Hell Arcane Sanctuary. Not sure if this is just my luck or if it's due to the types of monsters there (ghosts, etc.).

If you play SP you could try LK runs. I get buttloads from there

Lower Kurast chests, the Cow level and Travincal are all great sources. Any place with ghost-type monsters like WSK (gloams), CS or Arcane Sanctuary is also good.

do people still run hell cows? are cows soloable or are there so many different immunities(physical included) to not make it feasable? ghosts prob arent good for me if they are phys immune. ive got a frenzy barb

Cows are great for runes as well but you need a javazon or summoner if you want to run it effectively. Blizz sorcs aren't bad either and a trapper can also work. With a frenzy barb I'd stick to Travincal and CS clears.

so say I want to get a Lo rune,
can I expect to run hell countess 100+ times on average? Im seeing ort-Lum, mostly the former.

I can't really do hell trav yet, my resists arent good enough.

I can run hell countess, andy, meph, and everything in NM.

I want to make a grief, so I need Lo and Mal. Is that going to take a long *** time? any suggestions on how to get there for a frenzy baba?

If you hope for a lucky HR find, it's better to kill mobs in high-level areas in hell mode. Single targets don't pay off, as a mob of 20 hell monster is as good at dropping a HR as an act boss.

I don't mean hoping for a very unlikely drop, but reliably obtaining the currency to get it. Saving up lower/mid runes for a higher one. or selling them for gems which I think Id need like 80 perf gems to get a Lo.

just keep grinding countess, meph, or andy?

Im lvling up but I just dont have the gear to be clearing higher lvl areas very quickly yet. Atleast with these, especially countess, I am consistently getting something.
