Fantasy Baseball is Here!

Alright, folks. The Sporting News is offering a free fantasy baseball league. We did this last year, and it was a lot of fun. It's only for 1/2 of a season, so there's not a huge time investment.

Go here to sign up. You'll have to create an account before you sign up.

League: OTF League
password: kerry2004 ( :) )

Let me know if you have any problems. Since I'm logged in, I can't confirm the directions very well.

Well, Im trying to sign up, but this has got to be the worst website ever designed.

I managed to create my account. There are 4 baseball options, only one is free. So I create a team in there, now I cant find a place to join a private league, only an option to make my own league. grrr

edit: Im in...what an awful webite

Yeah, it's less than ideal. Could you be so kind as to provide a run-down or step-by-step as to how you got in?

Well, first create an account...that parts easy.

Once your account is created. Click baseball on the links accross the upper part of the page. This should bring you to a listing of all the fantasy baseballs available.

Under "Market-Based Fantasy Games", you will see one called "Basic Fantasy Baseball Season 1." Under that will be an option to create a team. Go ahead and create a team, it will ask you to give a team name. Then it will ask you to either join or create a league.

Here is where is gets tricky, as there is no option just to punch in our league name and pass. You have to find the part that says "search for a private league." You type in our league name and search for it. It should find it. Click on it. It will ask you about 5 times if your sure you want to join it, then you put in the password and your in.

Oh my lord. I just reread the rules, and noticed how much they changed this from last year.

Last year we got 15 free trades. It kept things interesting, and you had to be pretty selective on your roster moves. Guess how many trades we get this year.

2.

Two trades. That's it. It completely destroys the game! Now you don't have trades for strategy, you have trades for necessity (i.e. if someone gets injured).

Bummer.

Last year was fantastic. You could pick a roster full of really low-priced players like Prior, Blaylock and Willis, and by the end of the first half, I had a roster full of studs - simply by buying low and selling high 15 times.

But 2 trades?!? C'mon!

Uh, this sucks?

The prices are all high as Hell (even for not-so-great players) and it's interface is horrible not to mention the fact that it doesn't have some players that should be there...

Would anyone be interested in a Rotisserie league on Yahoo? They started at midnight last night.

Alright, folks. I was just going through the rules, and it looks like things are looking better. We don't just get 2 trades. We get 2 trades per week. They accumulate as well.

Okay...that took a while...I dont know baseball as good as I used to.

It was really hard trying to buy a team that cheep. If you pick up someone like Bonds (SF Left Fielder...ha) the rest of your team would be very hurt by it.

Good luck guys...I hope we get some more people.

Actually I'd rather do the Yahoo one. I am doing the hockey one and that seem to be a good interface.

I'll do whatever though: TSN, Yahoo or both.
