One of my favourite chars of all time and one that I have noticed does not really have a proper guide here on these forums. Some of you may have seen me ranting on about how great they are on various posts.
This is mainly a pvm guide as there is already a pvp guide on these forums, although from time to time I will mention pvp

1. stats
Well here we are at the 1st of many questions you ask yourself when you make a new character and it is always prety similar, so I will be quite brief
strength: The minimum needed to wear your equipment, you get no bonus if you have 700 str
dexterity: with most shields/heads you will need enough dexterity to max block. If this is not the case then I will state so next to the shield in question in the items section.
The formula for block is dex required=((block percent x (char lvlx2))/block on the shield)+15
eg for homunculus(72%) at lvl90 the equation will look like this ((75x(90x2))/72)+15 = ((75x180)/72)+15 = 202.5(the game rounds down so you will need 203)
energy: this depends on what gear you can afford. With good gear base energy is more than enough, then the most energy I recomend is 100 for the poorer equipment
1 Energy point gives 2 Mana
Vitality: here is where the rest of your points go
1 Vitality point gives 2 Life
1 Vitality point gives 1 Stamina
2. skills
The poisenmancers main skill is poisennova and this only has two synergies so after those there becomes alot of choice involved, this will depend on what your char will be used for.
Bone tree
Poisen Dagger(20): Thois is a synergy so I strongly recomend that you max this. This can be used if you want to play as a meleemancer sometimes, yet this is not a guide on this, I believe there is one elsewhere though.
Poisen explosion(20): another synergy so again very useful to max
Poisen nova(20): your main attack, the beuty of this is that its mana cost does not increase each level, it is always 20. This of course should be maxed
teeth: This is a pre requisite, but I only recomend one point in this
Everything below here is your choice, these are just skills to back up your poisen
corpse explosion: This skill can be useful especially against clumps of monsters, I use this at level 1 although if you are a fan a few more points can go here (I dont really recomend above level 10)
bone spear: This can be useful, to me it is a pre requsite to spirit, but this could be used instead of spirit. If you are pvp then this would most likely be a better choice as spirit is easy to avoid, although if your aim isnt that great then spirit aims for you Ime afraid this is preferance and I cant be more specific
bone spirit: see above
bone armour: definatley worth 1 point, expecially if you use the marrowalk bug as this means you can take ALOT more damage
bone wall: If you go down the bone route then I max this after either spirit or spear
bone prison: If you want to use the marrowalk bug then of course you cannot put a single point in this skill, while if you dont want the bug then 1 point can be useful
Curses
I strongly recomend lower resist as this will remove 90% of immunities and make the game alot easier and also in pvp increases your damage by huge amounts
This requires 7 points as I only really recomend 1 point in, let your equipment lift it higher
Summening
If you are pvm or pvp(pubby pvp only, as minion stacking is big bm)
skeleton mastary: If you are using marrowalk then no points are required if not then 1 point would help keep your minions alive
summen skeleton: 1 point gives you a small collection of skeletons after +skills
summen mage: same as skeleton
revives: same as skeleton, except these will tank very well and do some damage, although they have a limited life
golem mastary: 1 point to help the poor guy stay alive
summen resists: helps them all conquer the forces of darkness
now which golem to have, this depends on what your character is for. pvm good old clay golem is more than good enough. While if you intend to duel the fire golem is an amazing tool, nothing better to remove that final hp from an oponent and it requires no skill on your part(the fire golem has fire aura for those who are not aware)
3. Items
Now this i always the hardest part of a guide to write as people vary so much in what they can afford
Weapons:
Deaths web: this guy is king for poisenmancers, the possible -50 res is amazing and the skills outstrip hoto(the worst is +3 to bone skills)(I believe this is the 2nd rarest item in the game, after tyrials might)
hoto: this is still a very nice weapon although deaths web is better suited to a poisenmancer, the +3skills is nice and the resists are useful, although for pvm poisenmancer the fcr is abit pointless
wizardspike: People always underestimate this beauty just becasue it is easy to find, this is my preffered choice for pvp, especially with a good jewel in. Huge resists, Huge mana, and Huge fcr, only missing +skills, butstill godly
Blackbog's sharp: this gives quite abit of +skills so can be very useful in pvm
Of course other wands with + relevant skills are useful yet I think blackbog's sharp is better and cheaper than these wands(like black hand key).
This list feels very small as after the 2 expensive ones (hoto and deaths web) wizzy and blackbogs are very cheap and yet are the next best choice so it is pointless me listeing every wand in the game
Armour
Bramble: the king for pvm because the damage this thing gives is insane
enigma: the king for pvp as without it nova is far too slow and easily avoided
chains of honor: A very nice armour yet bramble gives more damage, although the resists can be very useful if you are lacking in this area
skin of vipermagi: in affect this is 1/2 a coh and ALOT cheaper, resists, +1 skills and some fcr, decent cheap armour
Que-Hegan's Wisdom: Another cheap useful armour, yet the resists on vipermagi are more useful
The spirit shroud: Yet another cheap armour and yet gain vipermagi is better
Helm
A godly circlet: As always this outstrips any other helm if the right mods spawn, useful mods. skills, fcr, resists, life, mana, sockets
shako: This is what most people will be wearing, so I will say this is the best item, since a circlet better than this for a poisenmancer is so insanely rare it might as wlel be ignored
crown of ages: this helm can be useful although personally the strength requirement puts me off too much
peasant crown: this is a poor mans version of shako, still quite a nice helm
Lore: it is prefereance between this and peasant crown
Amulet
Godly rare amulet: very similar to godly circlets, you get a godly 1 then ime very jealous of you lol
For most of us
Maras: resists skills and stats, nice amulet
Other than this any amulet with + skills really
Rings
Soj: mana, and skills, very nice ring for casters
bul kathos ring: If you have enough mana already then this is the equivalent for life
rare ring: this can spawn very nice: fcr, resists, stats, life, mana are what you are really looking for
Shield/head
Trangs head(In combo with belt and gloves): this gives -25% enemy poisen resist(godly) some resists and skills
Homunculus: useful head although i think that trangs combo has the edge on this
Darkforce: the fcr helps loads with tele in pvp, but trangs throws this head down and tramples on it in pvm
whitstans guard: very cheap and insane block but no skills and things
You get the picture. Trangs combo is relatively cheap and godly what more do you want
Belt
Trangs belt(with head+gloves): for the same reasons as the head
aracnid: very useful for pvp, yet trangs combo is better for pvm
You can get some nice rare belts: fhr, life, mana and things although trangs is of course king again, lol
Gloves
Yet again
trangs takes the throne
frostburn: these give ana amzing mana boost for pvp, especially as tele eats mana for breakfast
magefist: some cast rate and mana regen, these could be useful to hit a breakpoint
Boots
Marrowalk: this is mainly pvm so you can use and abuse the marrowalk bug all you like with no worry about bm , the other mods are prety nice too, lol
waterwalk: the life on these thinbgs is just lovely
sandstorm trek: nice boots, the fhr is just lovely, hehe
war travelers: very nice mf boots and are alright for non mf chars yet the above boots are better
4. Merc
Here there is so much choice.
The first desision act1 or act2 merc
act1 is the best for pvp
act2 is best for pvm
act1 fire rogue, gear should be mainly designed around damage, as leach doesnt really work in pvp
act2, here we have more choice, the best ones are really holy freeze or defiance. I prefer holy freeze as the necro is not really designed around super high def.
Gear
dont forget that items do not loose durability when a merc wears them so ethereal is better than non eth
any high damage weapon really, some decent uniques (in order)
tomb reaver
reapers toll
bonehew
cresent moon
armour
shaft is very nice
other than that any armour with resists/life/stats and things are useful
helm
life leach is very nice on the helm.
My preferance is gaze, dr and life leach(combined with shaft he has max dr)
charms
skillers are always useful, life/fhr are very useful 2nd mods
1x anni of course
then fill up the remaining space with life small charms usefull 2nd mods are mainly resists
5. socketing
The main thing for pvm is poisen facets
Other than these jewels/runes with resists/fhr/-req/stats are always nice

8. My necromancer
Ive added this section to show you what I have done. This char is on ladder europe
stats
str=118 I have a huge amount here so that I can be very flexible with the gear I use
dex=230 next level I will put the points in dex as I only planned max block at 90, not 92(his current level)
energy=base

max nova, dagger, explosion
max spirit
1 point in every summen skill
1 in lower resist
rest are going into bone wall
equipment
deaths web -54/1(with a -5/4 facet in)

He borrowed bramble off a m8 for abit hehe, but is back to this armour now :/

he has about 1200 life with no bo
8k poisen nova
2.5k spirit
just under 800 BA
he can get 5 skeles and 5 mages and 11 revives and 1 fire golem
he has an act1 fire rogue with wf/shaft/gaze
