Fact or Fiction: D2 players have a preference for fantasy.

    For instance:
I collect dragons, read every book by Davind Eddings and Katherine Kerr (and some other fantasy authors), visit fantasy shops regularly and have quite a collection of Magic trading cards.

Hmm not me though. I collect XBox games... that is pretty much the only thing I collect hehe. Diablo is to be honest, the only "fantasy/rpg" game I play.

I play morrowind also. Forgot to mention that in the intro. Played Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale as well. Many hours of fun there.

I plead guilty. I mostly read fantasy, I'm reading Eddings at the moment, the vast majority of games I play are fantasy based, I've been playing, and DMing, D&D since the early 80's. There is a little Sci-fi mixed in, a splash of horror, but not much.

    haha i couldnt agree more!
Diablo is all about the items for me and playing different builds (yet not connected to fantasy)
I consider diablo as gambling now, not fantasy :p

Fantasy gaming wise ive dabbled in baldurs gate, icewind dale and played morrowind to death (cant wait for oblivion!!)
Reading wise, love the Silmarillion and other Tolkien, discworld (comedy fantasy!) and a bit of sci-fi from Orson Scott-Card

Well, I play Dungeons & Dragons, have Lord of The Rings instead a bible, and play all the Baldur's gate Stuff. Fiction for me.

    Nostalgic...

... I think it was 6 or 7 years ago since I last played Magic: the Gathering religiously... after that, I only played occasionally for about a year or so then stopped completely... but still have all my cards.

Last pack I bought was when they first classified the card rarity by color: gold, silver, and black, iirc... the symbol is a hammer/mallet... can't remember what the card set is called...

I did love the mood and the background story of the original Diablo. DiabloII simply couldn't repeat it, and so it has become all about the gameplay. I'm not very fond of contemporary fantasy literature, but I do love Tolkien (which is pretty much the reason why I fell in love with WarCraft and Blizzard in the first place.) I also love reading stories from ancient and medieval mythologies.

By the way, my favourite writer is Edgar A. Poe. I wouldn't call his work fantasy, but it's not alltogether incompatible with DiabloII.

    XBOX = devil, PS2 = 1337

As for me I'm not a big fantasy person. Just like killing stuff and whatnot.

which one if more fun, devil or 1337? Normally, Devil is more fun, and 1337 has no match to it.

Well I only said that because I don't like Microsoft all that much. XBOX does have some fun games (although the only one I have is Halo2), but PS2 has a whole lot more of them.

@Maxgerin, the set with the hammer is Urza's Legacy, the first set to color code the rareness was Exodous, which has a bridge for a symbol.

Having said that, its rather apparent that I played M:TG. GG should pop in and say he played as well. One of his avatars was the Hammer of Borgarden. Another user here has Prodigal Sorcerer as an avatar. If I knew how I would find a picture of a Derranged Hermit and make that my avatar. I do like fantasy stuff. I play mostly RPGs. As soon as I can find it, the orb from FF1 will be my backround. I read mostly fantasy books. I like Robin Hobb, George R R Martin and J V Jones in particular. Neverwinter Nights is a good game as well, I play it with a good friend of mine. One day I'm going to make that halfling barbarian.

Anything roleplaying I'm there. Reading is almost pure fantasy with the exceptions of Clancy, McCulloch and history books. Play and have played pretty much all roleplaying games but currently just D&D. EDIT: Oh, and have a MTG collection of course. Wifey also does all of these things.
