Expansion content difficulty?

Hi everyone!

So after a long break I jumped back into D3 with the new patch, and actually wiped all my characters to have a fresh start (I tend to do this periodically with games like this anyway). One thing I noticed is that, with the more powerful skills and better quality loot, normal difficulty was a face-rolling murderfest. I think I went through the whole campaign, hitting around level 40 by the end without using a potion.

Now don't get me wrong, it was great fun, I'm just wondering how Act V is in relation to the rest of the game. If I start a Crusader and play through the story on normal, will Act V be just as easy? Anyone with beta experience who could give me a spoiler-free answer would be my best friend, at least until the end of the morning :)

Thank you!

I don't have beta, but a general advice when re-rolling is to play at "Hard" difficulty. The bonus is an added 75% experience and you will level faster.

To change to "Expert" is not recommended though, since it's only 100% bonus exp (25% more)

Great tips, thanks guys! I played through with the Wiz on normal, and just restarted with a Barb on Hard, and it does seem to be a bit better. Not difficult by any means, but at least I feel like I have to pay attention. My big concern is I want the final Act to have some weight to it. As cheesy as the story can be in D3, I want to have time to experience the next chapter, and give the enemies a chance to finish their dialogue before dying :p

Fortunately, you can choose to turn it up whenever you feel like it. :) I know I like to play on the hardest difficulty I can reasonably get through.

As a side note, one of the things I've liked about recent difficulty changes is that it feels like the higher difficulties are a bit less gear-checky - I've found that for the most part, as long as I'm willing to take forever to kill anything and I have to run around like crazy to avoid getting hit, my crappily geared characters can actually fight and survive at difficulties above where I "should" be. I like that a lot. (A big part of this is that the accurate hit boxes simply make running away and kiting much more effective.)

Even with the whole dynamic difficulty scaling whatever later enemies are still harder because they have better AI and more/different/stronger abilities whereas you could make a new DH on T6 and be fine at least as long as you're still only fighting slow undead (and aren't dying of boredom, due to how slowly their lifebar is dropping).

Fighting slow undead on T6 is exactly what my DH did. :D It's not something I'd wanna do all the time because it takes so crazy long but it was pretty damn fun while I was doing it.
