Ah, the classic No True Scotsman argument.FoodPoisoning said:2. Why do Christians think Evolution somehow disproves their beliefs? I go to a Christian school full of fundamentalists, so really all I have is a slanted view of evolution. I have heard my Bible teacher talk about "Young and Old earth creationists" both say God made the world but have a different set of time. "BUT THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION. IF SOMEONE TELLS YOU THEIR A THEISTIC EVOLUTIONIST THEN THEY REALLY AREN'T A CHRISTIAN"
That is a real quote. I wrote it down.
Most of the creationists are Christians who insist on a 100% literal interpretation of the Bible. Because they are literalists, if anyone can disprove even one tiny fact, then that would disprove the entire Bible (at least in their minds). I believe that Christians who interpret the Bible differently are the real target of creationists.
Since atheists and other freethinkers make up around 5% to 10% of the population (depending on who you ask), this means that the majority of those who agree with evolution must be theists.
Interesting. Why do you put Atheists in quotes?I can't believe he would say soemthing like this. Also I think the reason why so many "Atheists" are so anti-Christian is because of people like that condemming them and beating them over the head with a Bible.
Anyway, the most anti-Christian amoung atheists are always the ex-Christians, and they all seem to have horror stories about the worst sort of jerks (often parents, sadly). Ah well, you know what they say: no one bleeds redder than the convert.
