[EU] Any tips for cashing out using high-end items?

I recently sold a great chest for gold and I want to cash it out via the RMAH but the exchange rate for the more expensive items seems to be pretty bad (around €1.5/m) whereas with some of the cheaper items you can reliably exchange at rates above €3/m. I've sold some rares for around €15 but it has been very unpredictable and sporadic. Ideally I'm looking for tips on something fairly reliable, for example 32% block Stormshields are bound to sell for xx€

On the USD AH I was able to resell an Immortal Kings Helm with built-in +Life% (5 or 6), purchased for 1.2mgp, added a Star Topaz to bring it to 40% MF, it sold for 9.99 USD.

I retried with a second Helm of the same stats, both with Star Topaz and Star Amythest and it hasn't moved over two weekends. Not entirely certain why. But, had I more gold, I would be grabbing more of that Helm type. I suspect with better gems they can move more easily.

Sounds like a one-off event, to be honest. I'm looking for something with a lot of demand yet a favourable exchange rate, which I suppose is quite contradicting. Guess I'll be relying on the usual tiny sales until I find something better.

Well, obviously, I tried selling it for € three times, then sold it for almost 40m on my first attempt. Very few people are still buying expensive items from the RMAH in the EU.

Not sure I want to sell my gold for 2.5/m and then ~30% fees. I know gold is said to be even less valuable than that but I've been converting mine for real money at a significantly better ratio.

sorry, it was late that wasn't a very full post i made. obviously there are things you can buy for gold for less than they sell on the rmah but if it takes too much time and the items move too slow then just selling at gold prices is a simpler alternative. depends how you value your time.

i mean your quoting a range between 1.5/3 and the rmah is 2.5/m, no?

I meant that using high end items you seem to get around €1.5/mil, while with cheaper ones I know I can get €3-5/mil, both quotes being after taxes, whereas after taxes the rmah comes at about 1,75/m if I'm not mistaken. So my question is if there's a certain high-end item that gives a value closer to that €3/mil mark, since I don't want to spend too much time with cheap items but in the same time I don't want to lose €40 due to the exchange rate.

Anyway, I spent 40m on a single thing this morning...which may or may not have been an awful idea but at the time at seemed like it would retain it's value better than gold, considering how many millions are going to be unleashed in the next hours and days.

the problem with that is that one 40m item will sell slower (for the most part, assuming you're listing it at around fair market value) than 10 4m items.

one interesting thing to note is after the last ban wave blackmarket gold prices have skyrocketed (in the us at least) to the point that they're not that much cheaper than the bnet floor less 15% atm. even before this i watched the bm price jump 65% in 48h (it is currently ~125% of the low i noted almost a week ago).

OK, good news is I managed to sell the 40m item for 94.70. Bad news is that in a stroke of "genius" I temporarily convinced myself that blacksmith plans are an item as opposed to a commodity so I'm getting 68 after the massive taxes instead of potentially double as much if I stuck to a big volume of smaller transactions.

On the upside what's done is done, I don't have to worry about the gold losing it's value or anything like that and I can focus on making new gold and filling my rmah slots with entirely new things instead of trying to convert my existing gold. I actually made less than the amount I would have by just selling the gold but the thing is - I don't know if anyone is even managing to get their turn, I tried with the minimum 400k and it hasn't sold.

tl;dr fairly big blunder on my part but I won't be ripping my hair out since adding the latest €68 to the total mean that in 1 month the game has paid for itself sixfold

Sale price€94.70
Transaction fee€14.21
Transfer fee€12.07
Applicable taxes€0.00
Your proceeds€68.42

Guys, please don't make the same stupid mistake :D
Think fast but don't panic when there's a surprising new event in D3 economy. Good luck!

Ya i guess it comes down to whether or not an individual's gold sells.

personally i dont sell anything on the gah nor do i sell very many commods at all because of that awful 15%. the 15% to cash out i'm more than pleased with (ebay is almost that much plus you have paypal fees - this is straight 15 and nothing to move to your bank account, plus i dont have to go through the ebay hassle of posting auctions, run a website, get chargebacks etc. 15% is a good deal to cash out imo).
