Weapons only lose durability when you hit something with them. This makes ethereal caster weapons sometimes more valueable than non-ethereal for some reasons:
    1. Lower requirements
    2. Style. Semi-transparent items do look cooler. :azn:

So, no worries, go ahead and cast whatever you want.

Either for merc gear as mentioned, or some of the richer pvp players use ethereal items for greater bonuses and lower requirements. If it breaks, they can always just remake the things in new armors.

I dislike eth hotos, because it means you can't recharge the Oak Sage charges that come with it - awesome for distracting missiles + fohs in pvp. every little bit helps.

truly eth bugged items have been zodded, then cleaned out and the runeword made...somehow they retained the indestructable status from zod, and also are now a runeword:undecided:

This issue has been fixed a long time ago. By bugged, I think he refers to the horadric socketing formula, that gives twice the etherealness bonus  .

eg. Eth Sacred has 900def,cude that and youll get 1350.
That armor makes a great merc fort/stone/duress/gloom and also very good for rich BvBs becuase they need that 5xxx def.

I found an eth 4os flail today ..was considering making hoto in it.Is the oak sage really that useful for pvm, which is what I was intending it for?

It'll die instantly in pvm. Even my druid's sage at level 30ish gets killed immediately. If you intend to use it for pvm only, go for it. Just don't charge/smite with it or something like that, and you're good.

Also, while things like Stone will break when made in an ethglitched item, as mentioned, it makes an awesome merc armor. Also, if it gets 2 sockets, you can make duress, which gives self repair. I have an ethereal archon plate duress with 3k defense, it gets self repair, 28 resist all, and other mods from the runeword. Very sweet.

    I think you mean Prudence?

Duress is a three-rune runeword without +all resistance or +self repairs.

Thx that sorts me out with the hoto.Duress is a sweet merc armour I have one in a 15ed sacred 3500+ def ..I was hoping for four sockets though..

The runeword you spoke with self repair/two sockets is prudence?

Edit: Pwnd by Ce Olba.. yep its prudence
