Eth Rune Master? What is it good for?

Eth Rune Master? What is it good for?

Found myself an eth Rune Master with 260% ED (pretty high, 10% from perfect). Any idea what I can do with it?

I know I can 5 facet it and save myself a raven, but what kind of build would that actually be good for? Most casters don't really need CBF anyway so a 6 facet weapon would be better there.

The damage looks like it can get obscenely high (for a one hander) with four Ohms (or 40ed/15max) and a Zod, but then the speed would be through the floor. Would it make a good charger weapon since they don't need speed? Or perhaps socket with 4x40/15s for 420% total ed and 60% IAS, maybe for a Frenzy Barb or a Zealer?

Might 5 Ists might work as well to free up a ring slot for a Nagel? Seems kind of pointless though...

Ever tried a Blade Fury assassin? :p

It should work for that, and the slow speed won't hurt you there. I don't know if it's really nice enough to socket with anything valuable, but some lower-end ED% jewels could work for that build.

I also think blade fury is the best. Maybe eths wil be good too

It's going to cost me a Zod either way, so I feel like I should just go all the way. :p But then again, I'm not that wealthy yet that I can just pour HRs down a sinkhole without any real purpose...

Never tried Blade Fury before. Should I put in Ums for OW or Jah for ITD?

If you can afford Jah, then a Mal for PMH seems like it might make sense too. But definitely don't take my advice for the best there is; I really have no idea, especially since I haven't built a BFsin yet myself. :p

My thoughts on the jewels were that you could just socket some 25-35% ED jewels and then not feel too bad about stripping them out with a Hel rune+TP scroll at a later time (when you have a more clear plan, and resources, for what to do with it - and if that plan never forms, you don't have to feel like you "wasted" high-end items in the process). I don't know what the jewels cost, but as long as they're not perfect I would think they're pretty cheap.

Note that Blade Fury doesn't use up any dura, so there a Zod wouldn't be needed.

If you have never tried BF before I would first not socket it at all or only with some cheap stuff. A Nef rune, some Eths, a Pskull and/or lowish rare ED% jewels with secondary mods (+max, -req, etc.) can be used. I wouldn't spend Jah's or even Ums if you are not sure if you even like the build.

Stuff like OW and CB% can be had at other places for cheaper or at least more recyclable gear (Dracs, Guillaumes, Gores to name some things).

Good point, didn't realize that.

Good idea, I might try a cheapish BF build with it. Nef Eth Eth Eth Eth it is! Anyone happen to know what order runes go into 5os items? I want to put the Nef in the middle for greatest aesthetic appeal. :D

Maybe it's better to Equip a giant skull instead of using a nef. You also get knockback, as well as crushing blow, strength, and 2 sockets. So then you get a free socket in the runemaster for something else.

Or I actually don't think 4 eths is a good choice. You could just use a jah, and 4 other items to put in the sockets, and then use an "Eth" eth fleshripper for or another "EthEthEthEthEth" runemaster for bosses (depending on how much wealth you want to invest).

What would happen if he loaded it up with 4 dol's and filled his inventory with elite poison charms. It would at least be funny watching all the little buggers run away and die, nice for clearing the way to baals' chamber on high level baal runs. Or even 3 dol's and 2 poison rainbow facets? *shrug* Would that work with blade fury? Just a thought.

I think 1 dol + howltusk + rattlecage + hit power amulet would be better to save sockets, and also get cb and kb. Nice idea though. Too bad venom has such a short duration, so the thing becomes less fun

Personally, unless you had it in mind to use it for a specific build, I'd trade it. A high ED eth runemaster is worth quite a bit, probably more than a single zod. As far as I know it's most commonly used for GM melee builds and barbs; it's not the most common weapon, but the high ED, large number of open sockets, and especially CBF make it pretty valuable.

Don't take the first offer you get, and try to be a little diplomatic when you sell it; it'll probably be hard to find a buyer who's actually interested in using it rather than reselling at a profit.

A lot of monsters in hell mode won't die from just a single poison attack like that. 40 451 damage/10 secs charms will deal 18k damage in 10 seconds and hell monsters typically have poison res and tens of thousands of life, in particular in multi-player games. It might work on a couple of them, but it's surely not worth spending the vast amounts of resources and time to trade for these charms :azn:.

In melee, fleeing monsters aren't fun, but an annoyance and it's dangerous as well. Your character might follow the monster then which might lead to nasty hits from other monsters when run mode is on.
