Malfunctioning radiator caps can cause radiators to slowly leak steam, thereby draining them of fluid. After 3 hours of this, the radiator may find itself empty. The oil will take over cooling duties for a while, but eventually it too will be exhausted. The engine, no longer lubricated effectively, will then tear itself asunder, stranding Pancake and Pan-bro on the side of I-95 for several hours.
