    Esperanto

    Hello everyone!

I was just wondering if any Diablo-players actually spoke Esperanto? It would be so much fun to play online and speaking E-o at the same time. Anyone?

Esperanto? That's a pretty tall order, it's not spoken by too many people, especially people in the US/Canada, which most of the people here are from.

I am curious to hear about how you came to learn it though. Where are you from?

Esperanto? I can't say I know anyone who speaks it, but then again, the language isn't hugely popular to begin with.

Isn't english the current esperanto ? Why would you settle an obscure language as the universal reference, when more than half of the planet already speaks english ?

Because English is going to be replaced by Manderin or another chinese dialect in the future?

Anyways, I learned Esperanto, especially all the grammar conventions, which were easy. The problem is I was never able to memorize word lists - so while I know how to use the language, how to modified words, I can not say much of anything, since the bases are all latin and a few other languages, and I was never able to memorize word lists, and never able to put in enough practice. Sorry dude.

More than half the planet? I must admit I chuckled a bit there...
Anyway, I didn't learn Esperanto in order to be some fanatic preaching about world peace. I simply thought it'd be funny to learn and speak due to its regularity and similarity to other languages. So far I've been having great fun...

Ikeren: Jes, la gramatiko estas ege interesa, miaopinie. Ekde kiam vi lernis gxin? Kial vi haltis vian lernadon? Cxu vi komprenas cxi tion?

Actually, the word 'beginner' is komencanto and the word 'newbie' would probably be novulo.

As the word 'noob' is a word that came as a result of many years of playing English computer games, it's a bit hard to come up with a word for it. In Denmark (Yeah, I'm Danish) we say 'noob' as well.

If I really had to come up with an Esperantish word for 'noob', I'd suggest novulacxo which would be the true negative meaning of the word. Later on it might simply be novul' just like 'noob' has been shortened over time. (newbie --> noob)
