    Enhanced damage mod for Zealot?

Yesterday i just checked the dmg boost my zealot would get with a 53 ed steelrend, much to my surprise it was a ridiculous low amount of dmg.
So before I socket anything im wearing I'm wondering if anyone knows why the ed was kinda worthless with the steelrends. Someone told me it had to do with base ed or something like that but im still clueless about it.
I could use some advice before i waste some ed jewels :D

im not sure about this but i think its just taking 53% of your weapons damage then adding it to the end. I have seen it with my zealots ed/ias 08 gaze

    Let's say your weapon does 100 damage base. Say you have 20 in zeal, sacrifice, fanaticism and 200 strength. That will give you 96% + 240% + 373% + 200% = 909% enhanced damage, meaning that you will do 100 * (9.09 + 1) = 1009 damage per hit.

To the best of my understanding, non-weapon ED is considered at the same time as the other multipliers. a 60 ED Steelrend and a 40% ED jewel socketed in your helm would give you an extra 100% for 1009% enhanced damage, or 1109 damage per hit.

ED in the weapon is a whole other ballgame. If you put a 40% ED jewel in there, it changes the base damage from 100 to 140, and the 140 is multiplied by 10.09 for 1412 damage.

Thanks for the answers this clears a lot :D
Thus socketing a caddy with a 38ed/8min dmg jewel would be sweet, more min dmg \o/
