E-Shield Melee Sorc - hah!

well, the only non-suggested build is a melee Eshield sorc. I have to differ.

So far, when I hit level 70, I killed NM baal in less than a minute, about 40 seconds.

I am using a Messer's Reaver with a 40/15% ias jewel in it. mmm
Giant Skull with 2 Sol's
2 Soj's (1 raven for baal fight before i find my stupid bane, wherever i left it)
1 Highlord's wrath - great combo for my lightning SC's, that and the highish LMastery works neat, add physical damage, and skills, speed, and, just in case, i get lightning res, perfect all around amulet.
i have 40 vitality
200 energy,
60 base dexterity
rest in Strength
Vipermagi on currently, need a 20/18 Bane with a sol in it for 27.
Belt is String of ears, -15 MDR looks good to me.
I probably willl switch gear up a bit and I might end up with a darf star and a Glooms for more mana.

On account of huge sick damage (jeez the messers is top dog) and really great swings for a sorc, I think leeching Mana will be a better bet. like a reverse Barb build, leeching mana vs life, just that theres no worry for immunity.

Having a problem with mana pool, the two sojs are hard to part with. I have a 62 mana -20 PDR amulet, but it lacks offense. Tal's ammy is a comparable ammy, but the skills arent so useful as swing speed.

I cant tank anything yet. I used hexfire and a decent level enchant, not going to max the thing, no need to. I have hexfire and a perfect Gerke's sanc with a Sol in it. Wow, that thing does wonders, even has some backup res. all just in case stuff slips through. I hve crafted nice pair of blood gloves, but it is obvious I need to get Frostburns on fast. They have extended chill time on and 5% EDamage on em anyways, probably a good bet since Coldmastery already increases chill time on the monsters. I put 5 base into Warmth, I thought it could help with the mana pool and give some synergy so it wouldnt be lost.
I have yet to score any +1-3 eshield stick for a +9, i have a +6 right now, and 2 light GC's.
Yes this was written rather randomly but im all sleepy from a big day and too much diablo.

My guy does 7k damage on crackhead speed so far with my might merc and stuff on......

Kinda a titan/melee/semi enchant/E-shield sorc. I have eshield and telekinesis maxed, i wasn going to max tele, but the effect of doing so is really really powerful/worth it.

Mana burn, well, i have a merc, I switch to my gerke's and just tp away.... i dont have any need for mana for offense, so it comees back faster than you think.

Oh, and best boots I feel are Goblin Toes..... so sweet :) run slow, yes, but who wants to run around with 40 vitality eh? they have 25% CBlow, which works wonders in melee! and they have -1 mdr -1 pdr. Kinda cool and fitting eh?

I'd rather suggest for some mana leech. As with the axe you will be doing some nice physical damage that will drain the mana you need to sustain your ES. Have a looke at the Executress guide stickied above.

That build does not use a Messerschmidt Reaver but Kingslayer runeword in a different array of 2-handed axes. Liessa posted her build there that includes ES and she does not put high amounts of points into energy, just as i plan not to do.

Axe wielding Sorcies are actually quite nice and with the right setup you can also reach max resists, have some % PDR and good FHR. Can get expensive though.
Have a look into that thread for equipment suggestions.

LOL

A sorc running around with a big axe, u must get some pretty funny looks from ppl :)

I actually want to build a enchantress / ES Sorc, mainly for rushing friends, and secondly for a bit of Melee fun :)

Hey, does anyone know where that awesome Enchantress guide went too?

Well I use a Sorc without ES, with maxed shiver armor. She's for PvP against Barbs/Pallys. Here's what I would recommend gear wise if you're planning to go PvP:

10 Fire GC/Anni: This is a total of 11 skills. +Skills is probably the most important asset for an enchantress, because it boosts your: AR, Enchant Damage, Fire Mastery Booster squared. Without them you could probably attain 1/3-1/2 potential damage at best not to mention AR vs those 35k defense pallys.

Helm: I would choose a +2 Skills Helm. Shako is a sure bet for the 10 PDR, Life and Mana. Andy's Helm is good too for the 20 IAS.

Armor: The best choice here IMO is +2 Skills Zod Eth Valor. +2 Skills is the max you can get on any armor, plus Eth Valor has high defense, life and 30 FHR. In PvP, you definitely need defense so this over CoH or Enigma is a better bet. If you can't get this, Normal Valor will do too. If you want some open wounds you might also try a duress, i don't think its better than +2 skills tho.

Shield: The only choice here is SS. This is really your only chance to reach 50 PDR, so those str/dex points you're investing will go to a good cause. I'd Shael this, because pallys with fast zeal can dual hit you if you have slow block I find

Weapon: I don't like bears so I'm using Passion PB. I also have a fleshripper in stash for people who like to stack fire res/absorb.

Weapon Switch: +Enchant Leaf Staff, CTA, Weapon with lower resist charges. In theory you can use all 3. Use first two as boosters then equip lower resist weapon.

Belt: Verdungos is a good choice for 10 fhr, life and 10-15 DR. If you don't plan to use Shako, this is good for reaching max DR along with SS. Arach is good for +1 skills, and 20 fcr occasionally comes in handy. Other than that, i'd go with string or pretty much anything. Another option is to use Harus belt +boots for the AR bonus.

Gloves: Magefists for booster damage, but you'll probably want a 20 IAS rare glove here. Anything with 20 IAS is good. Draculs is good for open wounds.

Boots: Sandstorm trek good vs Asns, for the FHR. Waterwalks are overall nice. Gore Riders are ok too. Can also use Harus boots along with belt.

Ammy: Maras or +3 Fire Skills for booster. Vs Pallys and Barbs tho you'll want Angelic Ammy.

Rings: Sojs or BK rings for booster. Vs Pallys and Barbs tho you'll want either 2 Angelics or 1 Angelic, 1 Ravenfrost. The AR is critical.

So to summarize, here's what I see as the most important stats you'll want for a PvP melee sorc

1: +Skills. Skills = more AR, more damage, more defense
2: IAS. IAS = More damage
3: AR. Without high AR, you won't be able to hit high defense pallys and Barbs. Zons and Asns aren't too troublesome here
4: Defense. You don't want to get hit and with maxed shiver armor you can actually tank a few blows.
5: FHR and FBR. Without these fast hitting zeals will whop you.
6: Open Wounds/Physical Damage/Other damage sources. THe first especially nice for added damage. Not necessary tho.
7: Resists. My sorc has horrible resists. Most of the time it doesn't really matter. The only cases where they matter are vs enchantresses, tesladins/avengers (rarely seen in duels), Fireclaw druids and Sins with psn. Wouldn't worry about this too much. Rely on AR and Def to outlast your opponent rather than resist.
8: Life. Not really essential, more obviously is better.

Mine is almost the same. Although I haven't maxed ES, in fact, I use a memory staff on switch, so I haven't put any points into it. I usually cast it at around lvl 14 or so. I have maxed TK, and I'm using a eBOTD champion axe. swing speed is awsome, I'm only level 78 so far. She pretty much 1 or 2 hit kills anything normal, including fire immunes. I'm doing a max of like 10k dmg. I diden't hire a merc yet, cause I haven't really decided what I want. I'm having a little AR issue, I don't seem to be hitting quite as acuratly as I would like, my AR is around 9k or so, but it still only gives me like 85% to hit. Once I get my level up a bit it should be fine. Nightmare is too easy, Hell is fine, but once the mana ball is drained I do tend to die quite quickly.

I am having a blast with her though. and the Comments I get are priceless.. when I was around lvl 70 or so and doing NM baal runs it was awsome, cause I could destroy all of Baal's minions solo without much trouble.. People were saying "Holy Crap, what the hell kind of sorc are you?" The funniest comment happened when this level 80 or so barb kept dying in the throne room. someone said " Hey Barb!, maybe you could get some pointers on how to fight like a barb from this sorc"

Damn, I can't wait till my sorc is able to wear her kingslayer glorious axe! :)
squigipapa, how much mana you have on your sorc and how much you put points into energy?

Well, with my fighting gear on, I have 228 in energy and around 770 mana. I have a few small charms with +16 or +17 mana. I've brought my barb in on my second computer and given a full BO to my sorc and when I do this it gives me a mana pool of around 1800 or so, With that size of a pool of mana my survivablity is greatly increased. I find with the 1800 pool of mana I don't have any problems what-so-ever. I just hired a merc, I decided to go with a rogue merc. I enchant her and with a windforce she has around 4k max dmg. I put a delirium bone visage on her and since I've done this I find I have much less problems. The confuse is what helps. it goes off constantly, and keeps huge crouds occupied they hit each other instead of all swarming me. I miss the benifite of an aura from an act 2 merc, but I figured since I was already melee, I'd do well with a ranged companion.

I've had to switch to using an angelic ammy+ring, my AR was giving me problems, I really think it had more to do with my lowish level in hell, so I'll probably switch it out once I hit lvl 85 or so. I huff my enchant while wearing a shako, mara's, 2 soj's and mage fists, then I swap in angelic ring+ammy, rare dual leech ring, kira's guardian, and drac's gloves for fighting. I lose around 2k damage by doing so, but my resistances are maxed and the life tap helps a lot, so the loss in damage is a small price to pay.
