no problem. i pm'd a few people who dont regularly frequent this forum, but i didnt even think of you, sorry.

i am already thinking of the next one. i think it'll be a round robin with the two best (or maybe 4 depending on how many ppl enter) going on to do final rounds.

back to the matter at hand:
BLoke and i dueled and i beat him soundly 3-0 despite learning that my recently remade zon (remade a day before we started tourney) is deficient and needs to be remade back to where she was before.

I'd prefer a 1hr OR 15 life sc buy in. Equal in value on the open market but some people (ahem, me) don't have an inventory full of 15 life sc.

well what i didnt want to happen did. i beat out CryP and moved my other character on to the finals vs ...my other character.

i wanted more people to join this so i felt that if we'd had a big enough turn out that having multiple characters wouldnt be as big a deal. multiple chances to win, but you'd have to risk more. i'm mildly disappointed by not being able to have an actual final round. if anyone would like their scs refunded i have no problem with it. i've already offered BLoke and CryP theirs back which they refused (lmk, guys if you change your mind), but if anyone else wants theirs back, pm me.

i learned a lot from doing this and am excited to try another. i hope to have more participation and a better prize structure. i'll contemplate the next one over the weekend and post my thoughts in a new thread for a new tourney. be sure to check back often and i'll try to pm anyone i missed last time after i post the thread.

ps. since adding some more frw to my zon i've not lost to a hammerdin in a pub game yet, so if anyone wants to know of the two who'd win, i'd put my bets on my zon.

You won fair and square, I don't see a reason to ask for anything back.

Like I said before, if you have a melee section I'm in. I'd likely still go down at some point, but I'd put up a nice fight.

Also, I'm thinking the prize structure could look something like this (if you can get 16 people/chars):

Everyone puts in a 15 lifer or HR, or whatever we decide on. We'll say 15 lifers now for the sake of ease.

1st Place Prize: 6 15 lifers
2nd Place Prize: 3 15 Lifers
3rd Place Prize: 2 15 Lifers (just have the two guys that lost the semi-finals duel each other to see who is 3rd)

Consolation prize: 1 15 Lifer to anyone that moved beyond the first round, but did not rank first, second, or third place (total of 5 people).

This way anyone that moves past the first round will at very least get back what they put in. I think this would get the more reluctant people to go ahead and give it a shot, myself included.

that sounds cool. i like the idea of prizes for people other than just the top one. i dont know if we could get that many people to join so we could leave out the prize structure untill everyone has signed up. i think that with the next attempt i'll do caster/ranged catagory and a melee cat. then everyone could enter 1 of each char type if they wanted.

what i've been thinking of and thought i'd posted it here was to have a round robin tourney in which everyone dueled everyone else and then the ones with the best records would then go to the final round(s). i dont know if it's feasable to allow multiple entries per person with that kind of structure. you wouldnt be able to decide which of your characters would "win" because then you could skew results into one characters favor. i also dont know how to do it fairly without allowing the 2 (or more) characters to "meet" (ie prevent you from dueling yourself).

something just occured to me though. if we have a win, loss, tie record we could make all the times you duel yourself a "tie" that may help as it would make both of your characters records of say 3 win, 1 loss, 1 tie not as good as a person with 4win 1 loss, 0 tie. that might work but then having multiple characters is a disadvantage simply because you're automatically going to not win. maybe assigning a point system to each win, loss, tie and then the people with the best score moving on would work.

i have very little experiece with tournaments so any advice would be welcome. dunno if i should start the next tourney thread now or continue a bit of the discussion here before making it.
