Duriel's Shell

I'm currently in Hell Act 1 with Duriel's Shell as armor.

I like Duriel's as it has decent resistance and it has the all important "cannot be frozen" mod.

However, for a concentrate build, the Cuirass base armor just doesn't seem to offer enough defensive punch.

Has anyone ever used the Horadric Cube to upgrade Duriel's to a Great Hauberk base? What is the defense rating on the armor if this can be accomplised?

Does someone have some extra Lem and Ko runes they'd be willing to let me have on the cheap? :scratch:

Yes it is possible and gets def. around 12xx-13xx or something like that (13xx is very optimistic and high basic ,def not to mention the lvl of the character).

Yes, i had one of these for awhile on my conc barb, then i decided to throw it on my pally where it worked great with holy shield. I then replaced it on my pally with an upped guardian angel UMed, I UMed the one on my barb then and it kick ***!

Duriel's shell is a great armor normally. With a combination of resists, cannot be frozen and +life it's got some of the most important mods a barb could ask for. In hell difficulty, it does start to hamper you a bit, but it can be upgraded and have enough def to be an endgame armor.

It also makes a great merc armor with the cannot be frozen and an etheral upped one can be great. For your barb there are better ones but if you do not have the riches for the high end runewords etc it is not a bad armor at all.

there's a problem with upgrading ethereal items. Being ethereal, items get 1.5x ed bonus. When upgraded, they lose their bonus. Thus, it's better to up a normal version of the armor unless you're planning to put it on your merc, in which case it doesn't matter which you choose.

top-end upgraded duriels has about 1500 defense.

The strength req of 118 for upgraded duriel's is also manageable for rich or poor.

Sure for defence but what else does it have on duriel? Prettu much nothing.

I just found an Eth Duriel from hell meph and it works really well on my barb and Im just gonna dump it onto my merc when Im done with it. :clap:

yes it will just be like a normal upgraded duriels but able to be broken and with -10 str req

well when i look in cube it looks some item can be upgrade in NL as well but don't know what item it is though :scratch:

Any rares can be upgraded to elite level on NL.

Any uniques can be upgraded to exceptional level on NL.

Interesting. Whats the recipe for upgrading? [I'm not sure if the one on diabloii.net is correct]
