And while we are at it... would it be worth using my Duriel mule to kill Duriel more often, or is there some code that says that Mephsto/Diable/Baal drop "better"? I know Andariel has her bug

This of course would be under the assumption that a Duriel mule still knows the tomb symbol...

I always considered Duriel worthless in terms of drops, but that might just be because I haven't seen him drop that much...

 

Duriel has a higher chance to drop jewelry...facets/rings/amulets than other bosses. Other than that he probably takes too long to kill, compared to Mephisto and such. Also his Treasure Class range is worse than Mephisto's (Duriel=TC72, Mephisto=TC78) so his higher mlvl probably won't do you much good. Also Duriel has a lot more junk drops (potions, scrolls), so he's probably not worth the effort.

You probably could have done a search for this info and found it rather quickly. Basically, the Andy bug is that she will always drop from her quest drop (the drop you get for the first time killing of an act boss) if you talk to a townsfolk after you kill her after that kill then she will always drop as if it's her first time. You can avoid this by leaving the game right after you get credit for killing her if you don't want to make use of that bug.

Incidently, IIRC that Duriel has the same bug however he also has another bug which nullifies the first bug so that he will actually drop properly every time.

 

Duriel has a better result than Meph regarding the mlvl-qlvl part of the item generation process, but the difference is minimal because Duriel's mlvl is only higher by one.

Reasons why not to visit Duriel:

1. Regarding set items and uniques, there is no item which Meph can't drop, but Duriel can, in spite of Duriel's higher mlvl.

2. Duriel drops up to TC 72, Meph drops up to TC 78.

3. It takes far longer to reach Duriel. You have to check the symbols at the Summoner's place for that or have a Duriel mule.

4. One of Duriel's drops always is a TP scroll.

Regarding everything but uniques and set items, act bosses aren't good targets. Better kill lots of regular monsters and in case of charms, better reroll them with 3 pgems. To get the GCs themselves, you have to visit Baal, Diablo or Nilathak. For SCs, remove Diablo from the list.
