duress armor type

In looking at Elite armors, there is only one that is any good for Duress - archon. Is there something I am missing? Why would anyone use ANYTHING else for ANY runewords? There is no real Defense difference between archon and the higher armor types; plus the heavier armors will be harder on the stamina.

Did Blizzard just mess this up or am I missing something?

Normal/Exceptional vs Elite Items
Some Elite Armor has similar Defense to encourage players to adopt different looks.
With regards to inconsistencies between Elite and Exceptionals in terms of how they "progress": Elite Weapons may not be perfectly analogous to their Exceptional versions. They are fairly balanced in such a way now that there is no clear superiority in terms of weapon selection. In general - average or minimum damage is more effective in gameplay than max damage. All of the weapons have been balanced for similar damage/time (as far as 1h vs. 1h and 2h vs. 2h is concerned).
guess it's just a matter of style :)

My favourite for most runewords is Dusk Shroud, def is almost the same and only 77 strengh req

Archon's provide the greatest base defense for Light Armors

It also seems many people take great care into making their characters aesthetically pleasing to themselves.

Yeah, <3 Dusk Shrouds :]! I'm a low-str, high-vit freak -_-;

dusk shrouds look really stupid on palidins though. I put my duress in a high defence boneweave and it looks groovy.

Great haurbek fairly decent type armor with low str req (~118) and you'll have that much anyway 89 for HOZ base +20 from HOZ +10-20 from anni give you 119-129 anyway

I personally love great hauberks... I primarily use them... archon's and dusk's work out perfectly, too. I guess it's a matter of taste, or which you have readily available...

Wire fleeces also = great. I personally would sacrifice a ~50 def for style :) It also depends on the armor itself too ... say for enigma and duress, ~50 def isn't a big deal so I would go for looks, but on a stone or an eth stone, def is multiplied substantially, so go for the best armors in those cases.

Wouldn't it be boring if everyone looked the same?

my duress is in a boneweave and i couldnt be more aesthetically pleased. i do admit the light plate family is the best pound for pound. great hauberk is a good contender also

Wire, Dragonwirm and Dusk are the most balanced in terms of def/req IMO, leaving appart the issue of the style

I could care less what it looks like.... if it doesn't require more str then what I need for other gear, it has good defense, and 3 sockets.... it's cool with me! I was lucky enough to get some 3 socket Arcon and made duress... very nice armor :) ... but I would trade it in a heartbeat for another set of Duress if the stats were better... and I wouldn't care how I looked in it.

I say Boneweave all the way. It looks the coolest on your pally, and it even has the coolest sounding name.

Just my 2 cents.......
