As far as I understand this, once something is socketed to an item then it loses some sort of ID and thus is un-poofable. This is why people used to sell items with the last rune not socketed yet, because that way they could make dupes with it and the final product wouldn't poof.

They can still be detected. The runes in the sockets count as seperate items. I would expect the armor to be deleted if the Jah is duped and was detected.

Another bnet rumor... they're like a plague.

each item loses its number id when it is socketed... so if u socket an armor or something with jah, it will definitely not disappear

i can guarantee this 100 percent; its best to socket duped runes as quickly as possible

Or you could not trade for them at all.

As I said before the rune remains a seperate item, only it's linked to the socketed item. It can still be detected, but I don't know if Bnet still deletes them when socketed. You'd have to ask them.

I traded an eth beserker axe for vex,vex and jah;a few private games later, one of the 2 vex disappeared;i don't know when, but when i checked my stash, only one vex left..so be careful if you trade for 2 same runes, one could be a dupe of the other one

How 'bout "its best to get rid of duped runes as quickly as possible", or as Unholy_Carnage already implied "its best to not trade for them at all"?

Can we please respect the stance of these forums towards cheating, hacking and dupes? Or is that too much to ask for? Thank you.

speaking of duped runes, my friend's barbarian was using a botd tmaul, and he claimed that he died once, left the game, then made a new game and got body only to find that the botd was replaced by a superior staff.....sound like a duped rune being detected?

i'm not sure if he's tellin the whole truth, for all i know he died twice, didn't have enough str to re-equip it, died again, got ticked off (like he's good at doing) and left again, leaving maul behind. :grrr:

c'est la vie! i made it for him, too.

WEll that stance is fine and dandy but theres no way to tell if a rune is duped or not (until it poofs) so that point is moot

About everyone here is against duping, but the majority here will also trade for high runes/runeword items if given the chance. If you are careful (have item ready to be socketed) nobody cares where it came from (can never be confirmed anyway).

I bet plenty of uniques traded here are the result of pindlebot (not accusing anyone - just saying that plenty of items offered here are from trades made off of the channels). So ultimately there is no difference. Thats the economy. U can either work with it, or not.

I know that, and I don't have anything against anyone who owns dupes without knowing it. One has to not trade at all to be totally safe. But it is the way mashimaroinc phrased it that bothered me a little: advice of what to do with duped runes. I don't know, it just doesn't fit this forum.

When the rune gets socketed it wont "go poof" however. .you guys are talkinga bout "not rading for duped runes". .There is no way to tell. .so I'd say if you have to trade for runes, socket them right away.
