Dueling Orb-Sorc

Dueling Orb-Sorc

First of all, I want to make a dueling sorc that uses Orb, no way around that one :) (<3 Orb). I assume that I will have to go 20 orb, not quite sure on orbs synergy skill or the mastery level, but I'd guess that they'll need to be maxed, or close to it.

So far from what I have seen, thunderstorm is next to useless if you don't get at least 20 TS/LMast, and even then I'm not too sure about it anymore. That leads to my main question, what other options should I look into? EShield? Or another damage skill? And what about stats? Right now I have about 300 free stat points, i spent about 40 in VIT, got my STR to 45 and raised my DEX by 5 (for wiz).

Any insights\comments will be appreciated.

For skills i would max orb, bolt and mastery for sure. Then you can go with ene shield, but that would require maxing telekinesis for max damage to mana reduced. Other damage skills will be quit worthless in pvp since you have orb maxed. I haven't made pvp orber on lod, but I played many on classic, and I'm pretty sure that orb sorc's aren't as productive as blizz-ones. At least that's what my thought is after duelling them both.

If you end up not wanting to go ES, consider pumping warmth a bit or maybe one of the cold armors of your choice.

About stats, if no ES, you should at least get max block, then rest in vita. If ES, then max out energy.

Really though, the best is max block, with high ES IMO.

Nah I'm sticking with orb :) Fits my style better.
If i go max block. which shield should I go?
And in general if i want to use Eshield (which i should, by the looks of things), how much energy\vit should i get?

Visceratuant, stormchaser, and whitstans are all good shields to go max block/es with. Try to get at least 1k life and 3k mana. 2k life if possible.

I am also making an orber and would like to know the same thing.

Since I am going to try and find a 4o's Staff with +3 Energy Shield to it to make 'Memory' to obtain a lvl 40 ES would I have to max Telekenisis???
Would it still be around 95% if I put, say 10 Points into telekenisis and max ES?

The % of sorb on ES is independent of Telekinesis. TK's synergy bonus simply modifies the amount of mana removed per damage point. Maxed TK isn't optional.

But isn't there a cap of how much mana is removed, correct?
Would skill points be enough or would it have to be maxed?

Only hard points apply to the relationship between the two, as in other synergies. You absolutely must apply 20 hard points to telekinesis, or ES is a bust.

On all my ES builds i go ALL mana and no vita.
I normaly end up with 4.3-4.5k Mana and 1.3-.1.5 Life.

It all depends on your items.

Well as I said right now I have 50 VIT points used, STR up to 45 and 5 DEX used.

I have 20 Orb, 15 CM, and 15 Ice Bolt.
As for the rest, I'm still unsure. I thought I wanted max block, but if I go EShield I'm not sure if I can achieve that..
ES would also mean about roughly 20 telekinesis and ~15ish ES at least.

If anyone has advised on if that build is achievable and what it means stat point distribution wise, please advise :)

PS: At least im able to run meph with these stats\skills for now :)

Zero points in TK takes 2 Mana points for every 1 point of damage you take. Twenty points takes .75 mana points for every 1 point of damage you take.

So you'll tank over twice the amount of damage. =D As for vit/energy points, you should do almost all energy. Unless you are completely decked out charm-wise, you should aim for around 1k life.
