Dual Claw Trapper Superior to Shield'd Trapper?

Ofcourse the dual claw will have more dmg. Weapon Block can make up for the shield's blocking and also Fade can partly make up for the DR lost in shields (Stormshield)

Are dual claw assns more effective than shield ones?

For the trapper the more slvl the better, thus if you can get +6 to your skill by using a claw and another +6 by using the other claw your dealing far more damage. on the other hand if you get hit far more often by dual wielding your losing out on the deal.

Its really about playstyle and whether your build can be protective enough. I like going dual claw for a trapper but I know how to stay out of mobs by running and dodging.

A trapper played smart like Uzziah is suggesting is generally more powerful PvM.

There've been several threads arguing about PvP, but I don't know much about it.

I mostly play PvP. I read from zangief that the difference between both build is one less fcr breakpoint and like a few %less DR, against the Shield'd build.

c/c=can blokc spells but slower
w/s=faster than c/c but can't blokc spells
speed makes it easier to dodge and catch things though

If you like to run around your traps then dual claw is for you. If you like to teleport and have better stunlock then go claw shield.

On NL, its not even close, go dual claw.

On ladder, Spirit is very nice and hitting the 102 fcr breakpoint is tempting. However, I would still go dual claw because you can hit 9 frame traps, your LS will be 7 levels higher, and you can pump claw block to block regular attacks and elemental attaks while keeping high vitality.

I think these are greater benefits than 55 fhr and 1 frame faster teleport/mb.

I'm no trapper expert though.

once ladder drops spirit will help players on the other realms hit 174% fcr forget the 102%

Claw/Claw can block spells. That alone is enough. Set aside the mods, jewels, etc. you can put in them.

Also, with average + skils, Claw Block will yield 50% blocking with only 1 skill point in it. However, it is tough to get very high (wwsin with mass + shadow discipline can only reach ~60%)
