Drops and the /players x command

Drops and the /players x command

I was just wandering wich drops are effected by the /players x command. Do you just get more items or also more uniques.

This came up when I was Meph-running in nm. With /players 8 it takes like twice as long, but I neffer get twice that many items.

Do you guys have any idea about how this works?

/players x command has an effect on drops, increasing amount of players decreases the no-drop chance of monsters, so on high player setting almost every normal monster drops something

For normal monsters it is best to use as high setting as you can without losing your killing speed

For Meph use /players 3, because that is enough to make him drop 6 items almost every time (or every time  ), increasing the setting to p8 just makes killing him slower

As an addition to the above: The players setting has absolutely no effect on the item quality. Neither the chance for Exceptional/Elite items nor the chance to get Unique/Set/... items increases.
But since you get more drops, you will also get more high quality items.

Well sort of they do...

Player count affects the quantity of the drops. Quantity gives you more chances of the better drops. Thus it infact does increase your chance of getting better stuff.

But like you said, it does not affect the % of a game rolling normal/exceptional/elite or set/unique/magical/rare for a single item.

umm...not to confuse anyone here, Stargaze's answer was correct, just that it's not always that simple :)

I'M not agree at all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with player 8 you have more items so you have more uniques.

for exemple (it's an exemple)
with player 1 you have 1 unique for 1000 kill
with player 8 you have 1 unique for 0300 kill

you play a partie and you kill 800 monster
with player 1 you have 0
with player 8 you have 2 unique

cqfd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First: Never use more than three exclamation marks. Only psychopaths do so ;)
Second: If you'd read my post you'd learn that I said exactly that: The chance does not increase, but since you get more drops, you get more Uniques, too.

I'd say the number of exclamation marks which show insanity is open for dispute. Terry Prattchet, for example, sets the limit at five exclamation marks in "Wyrd Sisters". ;)

I know that, but that would still be at least 10 too many.

Well, on might substitute "exclamation mark" with "punctuation mark". Then you'd clearly be insane, Zarhezz. Otherwise it still shows, that you're on the ever-steepening downhill-slope to wackyness. :p

You're right, nemar's sanity is in severe doubt at this point.

Great, now it starts showing from other things than just character design. :flip: :surprise: :xmad:

I think this was also said in "Maskerade". :) And no offense, but it's Terry Pratchett, not Prattchet. ;)

I'll keep with one exclamation mark, if I want to make it more intense, CAPITALIZE ALL YOUR WORDS! :D there we go, not crazy, just loud. I don't know, /players 8 don't help me much, I still can't get the stuff I want from the pit, but whateve (I wish player 64 still work)
