Dream Question

since i got my dream gear (helm + shield) i have been playing with different builds.

mainly a pally, with all synergies maxed and max conviction. While this was fun, i got bored and made a TS sorc, /w max light and fire mastery (with dragon i was hitting around 32k damage) but i didn't have an infinity merc, so Im's were an issue.

Now the question i have is with the pulse from the dream gear, am i correct to assume that the pulse damage, is not effected by fire/light mastery? So reguardless of the class it should still do 1200 pulse damage??

reason for asking, i am thinking of stripping down my diffrent builds, and dumping the gear on my necro!


my necro is a summoner, /w max skeletons, max skel mastery and max CE.

im thinking with the following gear this maybe a fun build:


Helm = Dream
shield = Dream
Weapon = arm of king leoric
armor = enigma
boots = marrowalk
gloves = mage fist
rings = manald heal
Belt = string of ears
ammy= mara's

with charms max resists for light fire, and cold/poison above 50%

My Stats are split between life and Mana (so i can spam CE)

merc = act2 might /w insight


the concept is pretty strait forward, its a zookeeper build, but you have the pulse to help /w 1st kill and helping your army. With the 60% mana regen you can spam ce and other curses as needed.)

Your fire/light mastery WILL affect to your auras since they are fire/light skills so light mastery increases holy shock and fire mastery increases holy fire.

That's why there are some melee sorcs that can reach insane zeal dmg based on those auras and their masteries(Zeal comes from Passion runeword)

thats where i get confused, i see the amount of damage when i do melee damage (hit the creatures with a weapon) .. but i dont see the damage from the pulse being increased

(i would figure in hell that the creatures in act1 would fall /w one pulse, but it takes 2 to 3)

You don't see the pulse dmg because it is aura and it aint any skill what you use in your right or left mouse button(for sorcs). That's why you can't see the aura dmg.

But if you use zeal and have those auras active you will see that the amount of dmg will be decreased if you remove any light/fire skiller(depending what aura you use)

Without any synergies at lvl 30 [your two stacked dream items] you do:
Radius: 23.3 yards
Pulse: 1 - 278 (ø139.5)
damage added to attack: 1 - 1668 (ø834.5)

Basically you are sacrificing 3-5 +skills, resistance [yes i know dream gives res but depending on roll you probably are better off with other items] etc. to have a little aura that does nothing more than tickle enemies. Basically you turn yourself into the fire golem by waking up monsters to come to you and your army. In my opinion you can put those slots to better use.

Also I know you are trying different "varient" and may not want to end up like every other summon build, but I would assume you'd want to be practical as well. If not then why not be the first necro to say use the unique deathbit as your weapon. Nobody else does that, you can be the truly unique!

Maybe with Dual Dream you could do a skill layout like so:

20 Skeleton Mastery
20 Skeleton Mages
20 Lower Resist
20 Bone Wall (bone armor synergy)
rest in Bone Prison
all your 1pt wonders (revive, golems, ce, other curses, etc.)

Might be a cool build, you could be up front and tanking for your mages, with Infinity Merc and a little revive support.

yeah i agree with clsi, 300 light damage, in hell wont do much of anything.


i do have some more detailed questions for a sorc build. i will ask in the sorc forum
