Dream build questions (can anyone comment on the Dream/FOH hybrid build?)

I've checked the guides and have a question about how to finish my Dreamer build. It is mostly for PvM.

I've got 20 resist lightining, about 18 conviction to get to level 25, and 1 in Holy Shield (will probably max it). I don't know weather to max Charge and put left over points into Might (a more smite/charge oriented Dreamer); or to max FOH and put left over points into Holy shock (Dream/FOH hybrid).

Any suggestions about how to go, which will be more viable? Keep in mind that I soloed hell with him already with minimal investments in stats/attributes (Chaos Sanctuary wasn't much fun running around throwing Gimmers while IMed, but they got the job done). He was suprisingly tough and fun, but I have to admit that a Grief PB/Dracs gloves accounted for about 90% of his toughness. I've got him to level 90 right now and I want to finish the build.

Can anyone comment on the Dream/FOH build? Will the FOH in this build be strong enough to be worth it? FOH might be a better answer to OK/IM than gimmers.

Thanks,
sf

foh sucks for pvm, i would max charge and vigour (the vigour can be swaped for might if u want to use it, but i like vigour for the crazy run speed)

FoH seems redundant to me as you are already doing lightning damage and you would even be doing more damage by throwing the gimmers with dreams on. and ~10 frame throw vs. 25 frame cast delay. Also FoH won't help you if you should encounter unbreakable lightning immunes.

how many points do you have to spare?

I wouldn't go any points into FoH or Charge. What you will want to do is max Conviction, max Lit res (synergy for holy shock from Dream gear) and max Sanctuary (also a synergy for holy shock). After you have those done, you will want to max holy sheild.

My Dreamer Auradin for HC had 4 points in zeal (enough to get 5 hits) and he used the runeword phaseblade Voice of Reason. It works great with your conviction aura and dream gear and its pretty cheap to make.

Max resist light, conviction, zeal and sacrifice then rest into holy shield. Basically become two type of damage source zealer sounds good to you?

btw it's salvation thats holy shock synergy not sanctuary, santuary is the one that knockes back undead, salvation is the resist all one. Foh is one (crappy)way to deal with IM in chaos sanctuary but I'd just stay away from there if you melee.

Thats right, Salvation is the right one, thanks almonds.

Thanks for the replies!

I guess a Dream Zealot makes more sense for me. I have one more question, though. Will my smite be strong enough for the bosses with only 7 or so hard points into it?

I currently have maxed light resist, about 18 into conviction, and prereqs. I have about 47 or so unused skill points. I was wondering which of these builds would be better for PvM/Ubering (not even sure if a Dreamer can uber, but I plan to find out).

Build 1: 20 Zeal, 20 Sacrifice, rest Holy Shield
Build 2: 20 Zeal, 20 Holy Shield, rest Sacrifice
Build 3: 20 Zeal, 20 Holy Shield, rest Blessed Aim
Build 4: 20 Sacrifice, 20 Holy Shield, rest Zeal

What you you suggest and why?

With convic you won't really have any AR problems, so Blessed Aim can take a back seat. Holy shield is always useful. At least get zeal so you have 5 hits. With grief and dreams you won't gain much from sacrifice.

personally i would max salvation as the second synergy for holy shock to get max pulse damage going for crowd control in uber trist (although i have no exp to back that up, it just sounds awesome), 4 in zeal to get 5 hits, and prolly max holy shield. then wear your convic aura in uber trist and it'll override meph's lvl21 convic so you don't have to stack resists.

btw i've never seen anything to indicate that zeal gains more damage by putting points in sacrifice instead of zeal, is that true? iirc it does have a high modifier, something like +14% damage

Update:

I finished up my Dream Zealer using build number 3 (20 holy shield, rest blessed aim) and I am very happy with the results. Other than iron maiden, there is not much that can stop him PVM. He kills faster than my max damage uber killer Frenzy Barb and I find him to be more fun to play than my H-din. All in all, highly recommended:thumbup:.

I've also ubered with him twice, with no problems. He's actually easier to use than my 1 point smiter (i.e. H-din), because I don't have to spend any time switching gear, getting fade to trigger, stacking res charms or life charm, etc. I just change my Laying of Hands gloves out for Dracs, and go through the portal. He runs uber-Trist faster than the Frenzier, and at least as fast if not faster than my smiter.

And just to confirm, my Dreamer's conviction aura overrides Mephisto's, which makes Mephisto relatively easy to finish.

Thanks again for everyone's help with this.
