I know a person who would literally stop using a PC if he knew this, or at least disinfect it every hour.

Another news: The Unofficial *crowbar swings* sites forums have been sued for causing the trout business to lose customers. It has been claimed that due to extensive spamming the members of these forums have caught various diseases ranging from flu to aids. Trout business has plummeted and blames the forum for taking their customers away through disease. Heres an interview with a trout official that has shocked all spammers: "In the old days we had our regular customers coming in every other day to replace rotten or beaten trouts but nowadays we have lost our regurlars due to spamming and rely on the random customers who claim to EAT trout, marketing research hasn't confirmed these rumours."

Yeah, this is old news. We've dubbed our office spaces "bacterial stew". Many people carry the containers of disposable lysol or clorox disinfecting wipes.

According to some studies, using disinfectants only provides "swift natural selection" thus creating bacteria immune to some disinfectants, which can roam your office even after disinfecting.
This is old news too, but it seems to sink in (too)slowly.

I'll take my chances. The other option being let your phone, computer and desk swim in a bacterial swamp?

If I remember correctly by using cleaning fluids that REDUCE bacteria you aren't risking anything but using any ANTIBACTERIA(sp) cleaner might have that effect.

So that basically means not using any sprays, good ol' scrubbing to glory.

Is that the computers of the disgusting fat bodies that constantly stuff their faces, fart and drool all day?

Or is the the computers of the disgusting guy that picks his nose and wiped is on the underside of his chair?

Or is that the computers of the average guy?

These are the things we need to know!

"According to the study, telephones harbored up to 25,127 germs per square inch, keyboards 3,295 and computer mice 1,676. The average office contains 20,961 germs per square inch."

But we don't have a good comparison really, I mean how many germs are in/arround your average food prep area? (Home or Resteraunt) How many germs are on any thing that is recently cleaned? Not disenfected but just cleaned.

    Survival of the yuckiest

Forcefeedback is right: most common disinfectants only kill off the weakest members of a germ population, leaving the strong survivors with a means to adapt to and conquer the disinfectant's effect.

The only guaranteed way to eliminate 100% of a bacterial population is neutron radiation. As that's not even close to being a viable option, you're better off living in relative filth. You are more likely to catch a disease if it's airborne than if it's on a fomite (that's a nonliving object for the non-microbiologically inclined persons).
