Does + skill and DR items work with merc?

    Does + skill and DR items work with merc?

    My merc: level 90 Act 2 defiance (normal)

    Helm: Shako (10% DR, +2 all skills)
    Armor: Leviathan (22% DR)
    Weapon: Reaper's Toll Scythe

    1. Seems that he is dying less often now. However does + skills item work on merc? If not I shall switch to my Vampire Gaze (18% DR)

    2. Also, is the cap DR for merc also 50% ??

    First off I would recommend switching to Gaze. Not only does it have DR but the dual leech is always a nice thing to have. Your merc should survive even better with that helm on. Also, +skills does benefit a merc but in what way I am not sure. Basically, you should not give him a shako if you intend to make him stronger with +skills. Gaze is the way to go.

    2. I think there is a cap for DR. However, Shaft and gaze should do :thumbsup:

    For an A2 merc I agree Gaze is the way to go... (More Leech)

    +Skills will increase the mercs damage (Jab) and lvl of his aura.

    As for the Merc DR cap, I can't tell you for certain but I would assume it's 50.

    Now if you had him using an Amn Amn Amn Hone Sundan, then he wouldn't need leech, and you can give him a +2 skills helm to help you out. 2 more levels of might is 20% more Enhanced Damage for both of you.

    Why is everyone suggesting life leech when reaper's toll already has 14% life leech already??

    Because Life leech has penalties when you go into NM and Hell...

    In Nm it's brought down to 1/2 efficiency and in Hell 1/3...

    Personally, I don't like wasting my Full Rejuvs to keep my merc up and running if I don't need to.

    At a certain point, a Merc doesn't need additional leech, but for him to be reliable I'd say a good number is 20% for Hell.

    We're not saying 14% is not very good... but 6%-8% more is still considerable.(especially with the leech Resistances monsters have in 1.10)

    Leech resistances?? Oh ok I didn't know that's such a thing. I only know monsters have 50% physical resists in hell. Thanx.

    So I guess I will switch my merc's Shako to Vampire Gaze then.

    They don't all have that 50% Physical Resistances in 1.10...

    The Global Physical Res was a 1.09 thing... Now they have double life and varying resistances.

    If you go to the arreat summit and look at monster stats, you'll notice they have a new stat there called "drain effectiveness"

    Mephisto has Drain Effectiveness in Normal of 100, and 0 in NM and Hell. That means you can't leech life or mana off of Mephisto in NM or Hell, and you leech normally in Norm difficulty. Baal's Drain Effectiveness from Norm to Hell is 100/50/20, so you can leech off him for the whole game, just not much later on.
