Does it matter what difficulty I use my socket quest?

I have a 577 def, superior Archon Plate, white, that I just received from Chaos runs... I wanna put sockets in it, but the only character I have that still has a socket quest, is only in normal.

I want, 3 sockets in the thing.

Would my socket quest give me less sockets in norm than in NM or hell? Would it be a good idea to use it in normal if I wanted to get 3 sockets? Thank you.

The difficulty isn't important. only the item is. And I'm quite sure that a superior archon plate has a high ilvl resulting in max sockets. And that's 4 IIRC.

So I'm sorry but you won't get 3 sockets in that thing.

Is there any way I would? Tal+Thul+Ptopaz for example?

Thanks a bunch for the enlightenment. I'm only just getting into the ultra-fine details of the game mechanics this time around tbh.

You can't socket superior items with the cube recipe, so no, a superior AP will always get 4 sockets.

Your best bet is to find a cracked / low quality one, use the cube recipe to repair it (El + some other stuff), then Larzuk socket it for a guaranteed 3 sockets.

Hmm... rough then. That slipped my mind tbh.

Thank you anyways!
