Does hydra make the cut in pvp?

I havent made a pvp fire sorceress in a while, and i was wondering if hydra would still be effective in pvp? Also, does hydra take the effects of % fire skill damage enhancers (i.e. facets, ormus, escutchas)? I was hoping this would spark my interest in a pvp sorceress and i would greatly appreciate any info. or advice. THanks

ray, i've heard of hydra pvpers but never seen one. my best guess is that the build died with the patch. the facet question is a good one. this is a guess, but i think the hydras would be considered "minions" like an asn's traps are. if that is true, facets would not do any good in the +x% to fire dmg.

Idk...i have a really nice fb sorc, and after maxing all skills/syns i decided that i would throw all the rest of my skills in hydra. When chars play defensve(trappas)or hide in, say, cabins, a few hydras easily wreck (and surprise) them. A couple times vs. som...less than impressive chars, i cast hydras and telekensis fo stun...it works very well

I believe that the hydras count as minions and do not benefit from facets and such. My evidence for this is that much like traps, they do not trigger the +mana per kill effect. Additionally they nolonger receive the 1/2 minion pvp nerf which made them so effective in 1.09. All is not lost though as the dmg for hydra in 1.10 has been more than doubled when synnergized, not to mention extra +skills from such sources as anni and cta. I believe in 1.10 the nerf for elemental dmg is 1/4 (correct me if I'm wrong), so all things considered your dmg out put should be higher than in 1.09.

As for viability, that's up in the air with the popularity of enigma which ofcourse grants crazy run walk and teleport to any class. I think it probably very viable my calculation show that it should be very possible to get +11k fireball (synnergized only with bolt) and +4k hydra with sensible gear. I'm working a fire sorc working now that will include hydra.

if u can get enough fcr from other places, u can use moonfall as ur weapon which will increase the fireball to about 15K i think since it has level 11 meteor charges. just a thought.

You should be able to hit 15k FB dmg without moonfall anyway as you'll have spare points to drop into meteor. My calculations of 11k-12k fireball dmg were for my sorc I'm working on right now with a tight skill distribution so no spare points for meteor.

I think hydra is useful, but it's more of a passive dmg source and a mobility controller. I won't be your primary killer against people with any degree of skill. It will help you connect those fireball with your target.

As you can see from my thread from above (or maybe below soon) Hydras can be G_R_E_A_T provided that the user is very talented with them. I think hydras require more skill than, say, just spamming fbs everywhere around the area where you think your enemies would be.
