Does Blade Shield proc Rift orbs?

I read both riftsin guides and the stickies, ect. They contradict eachother. Before I waste skill points and gul rune, has anyone actually tried this-> Will blade shield cause frozen orbs from rift runeword?

No.

From the assassin General FAQ in Strategy Compendium:

For Blade Shield (main claw only: i.e. the claw you equip first or the one that's left behind if you unequip one. Shields transfer their effects normally)

What works

- Deadly Strike

- Elemental Damage/Venom (1/4)

- Leech

- Physical/Weapon Damage (1/4)

What doesn't work

- Open Wounds

- Crushing Blow

- Hit Causes Monster to Flee

- KnockBack

- Hit Freezes Target

- Chance to Cast on Striking

- Pierce Target

FO on Rift is CTC on attack, though, not striking, so thats inconclusive. Unless you're saying you've tried it yourself.

yeah, I read all that faq stuff and 2 rift guides already and no one seems to have actually verified if it works or not. There is even screen shots, but of course no video. Is my curiosity worth a gul rune??? I'm so bored that I am thinking blade shield sin for fun

I remember reading before that CTC on attack works with Blade Shield, but is treated as if it was CTC on striking (while actual CTC on striking just doesn't work). It might've been for one of the other blade skills, though; I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, I can guarantee you that if you make a "Rift" and put it on a 'Sin, Blade Shield WILL trigger off Frozen Orbs.

None the less, it would still be a pretty hard to do, IMO. Riftdins work because they have Conviction. Now, assuming you have a mercenary with "Infinity", then, other the other issue I see is low trigger frequency. You're going to need some pretty wicked AR sources to get Blade Shield to fire off a Frozen Orb, and not only that, FO only triggers 16% of the time.
