Do you believe in the Grim Reaper?

Do you believe in the Grim Reaper aka Death? If you do, tell us why. And have you ever seen/met him?

Not only do I believe he exists, I've seen him. One night when taking dinner to my wife when she was working at the hospital I saw what can only be described as the archetypical Grim Reaper. The only thing that was missing was the scythe. No visitor except me had come up the elevator or taken the stairs that night. And the employees at the hospital are banned from wearing black. For the obvious reason to avoid being mistaken for Death.

My wife has had the same experience. She saw virtually the exact same thing go into a room. She hurried down to see who the strange figure was. There was no figure there. The patient died later that night.

Now it could be just the overwhelming sensation of death that hung in the air on that floor. That particular floor was routinely used for hospice and rehab for old people recovering from surgery. Thousands of people had died on that floor over the years. You could actually feel a difference in the air on that floor.

Yeah this one time I was eating chicken and the Grim Reaper came up to me so I knew I was going to choke so I stopped eating the chicken, and as it TURNS OUT he just wanted a peice!!!!! Oh man, we both got a good laugh.....

I worked in a hospice for a couple years and I've never seen a Grim Reaper. But, you know, I've never seen a million bucks either. It's not something I've ever given much thought to honestly. I always just perceived him as something like a mythological figure.

I think it's entirely conceivable that in a place where people die frequently you could get kinda down about it and "feel" death in that area, and that this could cause you to see things like your own personal idea of an apparition that mysteriously takes people's lives. I can't logically rule out that there's an actual Grim Reaper either though.

One of the guys claimed to see a soul leaving the body once, for what it's worth. Nobody else was around though.

I dunno... ever since I saw Final Destination 2 the whole Grim Reaper thing went flying out the window. Plus, you all know the Grim Reaper has a jamaican accent, right? Jah man.

Your problem here is that you actually saw that film.

One Halloween I dressed as 'ol Grim and spent all night tapping on windows at the retirement center.

And Death is a force of nature... it has neither the need nor the capacity to personify. Why would a "Grim Reaper" be needed? How would a single entity simultaneously service all the people that die per minute? How did he get that job, when I'm obviously FAR more qualified?

I guess the world may never know.

The Grim Reaper is nothing more than a popular metaphor for death bourne out of superstition. So no.

We humans are always looking to put a face on something that we don't understand.
