Do you believe in Reincarnation?

Do you believe in Reincarnation?

That you have lived before or will again in some form or another?

Just once, or many times?

Do you always go forward in the time line or do you go back? Or does time have no meaning?

Do you remember your previous form(s)?

It sounds like a whole lot of nonsense to me. Unless...the maggots that eat us when we die are part of us since they ate us?

I think it's all romantic stuff that we use as coping mechanisms. You don't like your boss at work? Well that's Ok, he'll get reborn as a worm. Think you're pretty nice? That means you'll get reborn as something glorious. Don't like your low pay check? No problem, you'll be rich in the next life. How convenient. It all sounds like self help stuff to me.

Reincarnation is blissfull bull****.

People are so scared of death that they have to convince themselves that death is not the end. Death is infact the end. Nothing comes after it.

Nothing came before life and nothing comes after it. This trip on earth is all you ever will have so make the most of it.

I see no reason to interpret consciousness as anything other than a function of your biological systems.

Recycling I believe in, if you feed my corpse to animals part of it becomes part of the animals the rest becomes fertilizer and perhaps part of plants and other animals etc.

Thats about as close as I come to it.

One life to show who you are, I agree on that one. The certainty of death being the end, can hold no more weight than the certainty there was nothing before the universe.

By looking at ourselves we should realise; the presence of intelligence makes for astonishing changes of events. So death and after is a question of whether there is a presence of intelligence before, during and after our lives.

Reincarnation would be fine if you could choose to come back as what you wanted but it wouldn't be to good to come back a sa Tape Worm or something similar...

I don't believe in any kind of afterlife.

Although reincarnation isn't bad as they go. Depending on what you come back as.

I believe in reincarnation in a way. I don't think you will end up as something else, I think your body will be gonem but your soul will live on somewhere. Be it in heaven or someplace else. I don't believe this life is everything.

Religions offer you reincarnation or an eterinity in heaven in exchange for a life time of servitude in life because rewards after death is something easy to offer. People want it more than anything and the claims are not something you can easaly debunk.

What you infact are doing is throwing away your one mortal life serving other mortal men.

People living their life like that don't think their throwing their life away. They live their life happy knowing they'll be rewarded, should it be true or not. It doesn't matter much if it actually happens or not, just knowing you lived your life rightious is as good

Sure but if you really do care then you could do something actualy righteous instead of satisfying someones ancient power dream by throwing your time and money at imaginary deitys.

Hmm not as in "I was born in 1977 so Elvis could have reincarnated in me".
But I do believe that souls undergo a sort of development travelling from being to being, in a way. I don't know how to describe it, but it doesn't fit in anything I've heard about reincarnation so far.

How does that differ from the various flavours of Eastern tradition Samsara?

what I said. I find it very hard to explain, like bits and bobs of humans travel through time and space or so.

But what you said does not yet exclude it from those. I would like to know what specifically sets your personal opinion on the matter apart from those I mentioned. I do not mean to bash you along the line of "stop stealing from the gooks!" nor am I trying to get you from not knowing what the Sikhs believe, I just want to get inside your head a bit more here.

For instance, do you believe that when a soul moves into another being, does it move as a whole? Does any degree of the previous consciousness remain? Is there a goal for the development? Is it a perpetual cycle - does it have an end and/or beginning?

The goal is development, improving oneself, learning and experiencing things, it being bad or good. It's why I always think that in order to be truly good, you must have been very close to some really bad stuff, or have an understanding of it way above average.
I still haven't quite figured out the bit where something moves as a whole or not. I don't think souls in itself are seperated, but that it's all the same, going in small bits.
The difference is like, with 3 jigsaw puzzles, you always get the same 3 puzzles, no matter how often you take 'm apart. But with a box full of lego you can make anything, and it'll always be new but still a whole, one thing.

That's the best I can do I'm afraid.

Not as I see it. As I see it, you end up bound into hierarchy one way or the other. Because that's what humans do. You'll find yourself bound too, or all alone.

And all alone you become slave to your inner emotions and desires. Who is free, that which can be insulted and walk away untouched, or that which when insulted looses control and is taken into a brawl everytime? Is he not slavebound.

So as I figure, I'm raised and "controlled" by teachings such as: Everything is me allowed, but not everything is for me beneficial. (Paul)

As regards to those of "free will" who I see grow into beings utterly slavebound by inner self, and actions of other people. And "free" or "free will", is that not only so untill you make a choice? Any choice, as it goes in the song: Freedom is just another word for nothing left to loose.

So materialism certainly does not set you free, it gives you more to loose. And what is your unbound self up to except gathering more for you to loose and cling on to? Any halfcrazy tyrant is your endgame, that is the marker the "free" man is moving up and down upon.

As a fellow Christian stated to me: They say they are free and I am not. But I can do as they do at any time, but they can't do as I do?

At the very core, and by your idealism and "easy fixes", I believe you to be to young to have felt it, death is gonna tell you that you aren't free and never can be. The very shortness of time for you will be heartfelt as you grow into adulthood. In that sense, death slavebinds every living soul. Running madly away in some addiction, or trying to make the most of it, death calls the shots.

And when Jesus by his teachings and love sets into your heart faith that death will not end all for you and those you love, you are set free within in a way that cannot be put in words as the benefits of this belief colours any man in his own way, and as any man is a unique being.

This man sees and ages, and he finds wisdom when he realises how death slavebinds the running man. And how he sees only life.
