Dmg Reduced by X / Damage Reduced by X% - Which comes first?

I just spent some time looking for this info and was unable to find it.

If you're wearing gear that provides both of these mods, is the percentage reduction applied first, then the specific damage or is it the other way around?

Obviously percentage first would be better (I learned this in math class!), but is that the way it works in D2?

I think it goes -x% then -x. I'm not taking this from any context, so don't quote me. By looking at the way weapon damage is calculated, it adds %ED then adds damage (in numbers) - that's where I'm taking my guess from.

Damage reduced by x goes first, then damage reduced by x%.

It would be far too easy to achieve physical immunity if it was the other way around.

Shadow: +dmg goes last when calculating weapon dmg, but it goes first when calculating total dmg.

Oh well. Thanks for answering my question RTB. They're both still great mods - I did some testing of damage reduction from equipment due to a recent post claiming it was underrated and was amazed by the results.

The reason it's so useful is that death often comes from either being swarmed by little guys (like dolls or flayers) or from a group of ranged attackers. RARELY is it from one big hit. This has drastically affected my judgement of several uniques.

Yes, items like Skin of the Flayed One, Iron Pelt, and Glads Bane are underrated because people are not as aware of the power of Damage reduced by X.

Why does everyone keep saying Skin of the Flayed one is good... when refering to Dam Red.

Every database I look at has no mention of that armor having that attribute?

    Am I missing something?
