Disturbing...

Ski and I went out shopping this evening. We were looking for a gift for our daughter's 6th birthday, and we found this. It's the Barbie My Bling Bling doll. Her belly button is peirced, the lace on the bottom of her mini-skirt comes just below her behind, and her top barely covers her plastic boobies. They are marketing this little ho-beast to 6+ yr old girls. Anyone who knows me, knows I am far from a prude, but c'mon. Needless to say we opted for Polly pockets instead.

Looks like Barbie is trying to modernise and edge into the Bratz market.
Yes, but they've gone farther than the Bratz did with lack of attire and adding body jewelry. Ski and I were trying to find a "My Scene Pimp" in the collection as well.

I have a 7 yr old son who has had a thing for "bibs" (boobs) since he was 3. I don't need anything encouraging him.

As horrible as it may sound I laughed at that. Not meaning to sound weird or mean or...god i don't know...see what living and a bunch of judging people makes me like!!! . About the doll thing.... that's kind of encouraging little girls to become "ho-beasts"....thats weird

The Ken is hilarious, especially with the line at the top.

HC, I agree that this is a poor excuse for a doll for little girls. I shudder to think of what is going to become the in thing as my girls grow up. That's why I try to put my hands over my ears and chant "la la la" whenever someone tries to talk about their teenage years to come. :hide:

Disturbing.

But not half as disturbing as supermarkets selling thong underwear and kiddy lingerie for 6 year olds.

Like... WTF???

In the UK some supermarkets started selling thong underwear and "bras" for very very young girls. It caused a bit of a furore but i think they still sell them, along with belt-like miniskirts and other clothing a pre-pubescent child has NO business wearing.

Last time I was in the US we (me and the missus) were in Walmart (i think... some big shop like that) and going past the underwear section she was like "WTF?!" pointing out similar thong style underwear for kiddies. So it seems this trend is not limited to the UK.

Seriously - do these companies have a buying department staffed by pedophiles? Who buys this **** for their kids?
