Discrepancies in ilvl and mlvl

Ok, so i've been doing nightmare andy runs hoping one day she'll drop a stone of jordan (ilvl 39). However, on a run this morning a recieved a failed unique quarterstaff with 3x durabilty. I checked and found the ilvl on the unique staff would be 39. Does this mean andariel cannot drop the soj? Has her mlvl changed or maybe the ilvl of the staff? To add to the confusion i remember finding a rattlecage (ilvl 39) on one of the runs which i think was dropped by andy. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? All i really want to know is has anyone seen nm andy drop a soj in verion 1.11 using D2 (not D2X, if that even matters).

Strange. Nightmare andariel can drop qlvl 39 items. The only explanation would that a Ribcracker already dropped elsewhere in the game. Perhaps you overlooked it or you make your Andariel runs in public games ?

Edit: Oh, it's classic. In classic there are no exceptional uniques and set items and BTW, there aren't any elite items at all. That's why all rolls of exceptional unique and set items will result in failed uniques/set items. I was still a newbie when I switched to the expansion, so I'm not 100% sure about set items.

Yeah, the thing is i was the only one in the game. And all i did was go right to andariel and kill her. So even if somehow i didnt notice someone joining, it doesnt seem like they would have time to drop a unique quarterstaff. Plus this actually happened to me before with a failed unique cedar staff (ilvl 43). Now i suppose i need to keep better track of things because there are a lot of monsters in andariels chanber and i just throw orbs all over, but im pretty sure both of these dropped from andy and i was the only one in the game the whole time. Do you know anyone who has seen andy drop and soj in 1.11? Thanks for the help.
