Disapearing Rune Words - A Hoax?

It never ceases to amaze me. Why would someone make this up? Why would someone create a hoax like this? What purpose would it serve? I've had a vex rune go *poof* Many people have had other things go *poof* Why is it so impossible for some people to believe that this is happening.
People say, where's the screenshots, then someone posts a screenshot of their enigma minus the jah and ber, then people say ohhh probably just photoshop'd.
I guess there's no convinceing these people, and really who cares? it's like the people that read all of the data gathered on selling soj's and spawning the d clone and still say "well, you're saying that you sold and spawned him, but where's the proof"
ya, ok, so basically this *poofing* runeword this is just a big sham like spawning the clone, all the people that are saying that their runewords went *poof* secretly got together and decided they would start up this hoax, for the sole reason of trying to trick people into believing that their runewords were in danger. And the reason why they did this is because, ... well... the moons around jupiter were aligned.. heck I donno, that's as good a reason for this 'hoax' as any other I've seen here.

like i said before i havn't had anything poof yet, but i had another friend loose a dusk enigma the other day. i dont know what kinda screenshot you want, i go into a game and its there, go into the next and the enigma is missin, all i can show you is him without his enigma, then you will just say he just took off his armor and its all a scam.
I have almost 200 posts now, im not one of those people who sit on these boards all day, i have played d2 since classic came out, and i have absolutly no reason to lie to anyone here. I am not trying to brag, since i have lost nothing, i havnt had a reason to post what i have lost. My friends are pissed, and one is going to blizzard to see if they can rollback their account (i highly doubt this will work).
So you say show you the proof ... what proof do you need its there at one point, then its gone the next. If you are on USwest, i can't immagine you still thinking that this is a hoax.
So if you still think its a hoax, i doubt i will ever be able to prove anything to you untill one of my items poofs, then i may be lucky enough to notice a rune missing that i can take a screenshot of, although its doubtful that i will see this if it happens.

Not that you have any reason to believe me but my best freind lost her COH. I lost nothing and she still has her enigma and other rune word items, just the one item went poof. But thats just another story so believe it or not. Nothing ya can do about it, dont think hiding under the bed is going to work. I just figure easy come (non of us would have it not for rune dupe) easy go, its just a game.:lol:

we think its working like the rust storm that deletes dupes, when you are in a game then from what i have heard is that it will delete the duped runes from your runeword (this only happens sometimes according to what i have heard) then the runeword is left with that spot missing, but the name remians intact. When you leave the game the item goes bye bye. thats what happened to my friend at least.muteownz said:
Yes, entire items are deleted if it contains duped runes, because after these are plucked out of the item, it becomes as bad as a bugged "Ith" item (since the rune word no longer matches the the item properties) and is deleted in the next game you join.
Europe realm will probably be cleaned too in a while if it hasn't started already. I doubt they're leaving a realm.
Probably to be unpredictable for dupers and other cheaters so they don't have time to do "money laundry" by trading away their "dirty" stuff, etc. Would be pretty stupid by Blizzard to announce their rust storms.Sigus said:
