Did anyone up Witchwild string last season?

I cant seem to find one non-ladder...how rare are they really, I'd assume they'd be a lot more common on a ladder where windforces were not mass duped... Anyway anyone with info on how uncommon they are I'd thank for posting.

they are not that common. there is not a great market for upgraded witchwild string bows. most of the valueable equipment that people keep around and upgrade are good for PvP play and WWS is not a PvP weapon. although theres a big following for this weapon, and i personally think its really cool, its not the sort of thing that the average bnet player has or holds on to. might take you a while to find someone a) has one, and b) wants to trade it. heh.

I had a 159ed wws when I first started my zon 2 months back. It was a viable weapon up to nightmare act 5 after which I switched to a WF to survive hell better. I so wanted to upp my WWS but didn't want to "waste" good runes in upgrading a non-perfect one.
Just yesterday, I traded in my WF and an Um rune (grossly against my favour) for a perfect WWS which I promptly upgraded and socketed with Shael-Nef. It certainly is powerful for hell difficulty especially when deadly strike and amp kick in together.

If you spam for one in the trade channels for some time (I've been looking for one for at least a month now), you're bound to find some non-perfect ones for less than a pul. There are some wierdos out there who think that any item they have is worth 10 times its standard price and will ask for Ist for their perfect WWS (I met 2 such people during my search for a perfect wws).

good luck finding one!

p.s. I'm not giving up my 159ed one as that will be a temp bow for any new zon i make till she can equip the perfect upped one.

cheers!

B.net players are stupid and are scared off by the listed low weapon damage of upped witchwild string. Therefore there are very few upped WWS on non-ladder. I myself upgraded my WWS first thing during ladder season one.

But theres 2 sockets and already up to 170% ed with like 100% deadly...resists...amp...=/.

Read above where? I am one of those players that realize WWS's true power below it's elite average listed (in weapon display screen) 90 damage. I also know that is a crappy weapon in PvP. My point is that people are TOO obsessed about the big numbers displayed on their weapon to bother reading the other words "% deadly strike per level" and "chance to cast amp damage"

If there is one bow that I would ever call myself proficent with, it would be WWS as it was my main choice of bow for my Mangudai or "BowaBarb."

I full agree with Omikron in that most people look at the low damage of WWS, even in it's upgraded form, and give it up in exchange for Faith, WF, or God forbid, BotD. As I have tried to show, raw damage alone does not a good weapon make. The Mangudai banked on using Deadly Strike, Open Wounds, and Crushing Blow. Things, which to be honest, I rarely see on Battle.Net as most people shout "ZOMG!!11 DEW U HAV WF?!/1 I R TRAYED 32020 KTHNX???//"

However, I'm rambling. There are still things that I like about WWS than most high end bows. For one, cost. I picked up a WWS for a single Dol Rune. Looking at what Faith requires for runes, WWS is by far a better choice for building on a budget. Next, between the Magic Damage and Amp, I very rarely had an issue with PIs, even though there were those damned PI/MI bosses that occasionally appeared. Flexability on WWS is also nice in the 2 sockets. A pair of Shaels did me good as I tore through Hell.

In the end, if you have a Faith, WF, by all means use them. If not, just grab a WWS. You'd be surprised at what that little bow can do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again today. I LOVE my WWS. In fact, I should personalize it since it's Perfect, already upped and I'll never trade it.

I had a WF back in 1.09 days and the WWS is much more powerfull when it comes across immunes.

That being said lets address socketing. I think the best socketing option would be the one that brings you to the 9/2 frame strafe. (85% IAS)

95% is normal.
2xShael WWS 40%
IAS jewl helm 15%
IAS gloves 20%
IAS ammy 20%

you can hit 105% or 8/2 easy with:
IAS belt 10%
Stealskull with IAS jewl 25%
M'avina's True Sight with IAS jewl 45%

now if you are 10%, 15%, or 20% over your IAS goal then you can sacrifice on bow speed for more damage by replacing a Shael with a %ED jewl or OHM rune or 40% ED/15% IAS jewl if you are rich or just very lucky.

I love how people get so passionate when talking about the WWS - I am the same.

I disagree with your socketing options though. I always go Shael/Nef. The benefits of knockback to your survivability are immense. Sure, could be obtained via gloves, but I wouldn't want to give up a pair of Laying of Hands with damage to demons, or even Lavagout (for the enchant).

Looks to me like you're using the old breakpoints though. New ones for WWS are:

0% IAS 13/3
13% IAS 12/3
26% IAS 11/3
29% IAS 10/3
56% IAS 9/3
86% IAS 9/2
113% IAS 8/2

So you actually need 90% for 9/2, not 85%

I'd also be really reluctant to give up razortail so my recommendation would be this:

WWS (Shael/Nef) 20%
Cat's Eye 20%
Laying of Hands 20%
IAS Jewel Armor 15%
IAS Jewel Helm 15%
Total: 90%

EDITED BY DACAR strafe I wanna mid lvl pvp.

I don't like it when people go around our word filter. There are plenty of other words to choose from. Please don't use those.

I passionately concur with slam. My first WWS was double shaeled and my zon was shooting at 9/2. Now, with a perfect upped WWS, I've Shael-Nefed it for the knockback. And since I occasionally switch to my WF, I've kept my strafe to 9/3 and haven't really missed anything. LoH has too crazy a mod to give up for any rare or crafted gloves, and my zon get's to keep her resists as opposed to having ias jewels in her helm and armor. I think it's a reasonable tradeoff...

question...

If im using a 16060 armor. or a 120-45 helm.. what will i need to socket a wws with? im thinking razortail for belt, LoH, Coh(if i can hit breakpoint with the 120/45), Gaze(if im using the 16060), gores or sspurs? 2x ravens and cats eye. someone let meh know.

also.. if you have a p upp'd ww's for trade. i will trade you a Buriza, WF, and a Eaglehorn for it. Now THATS a good trade. All godly bows for ur WWS.
