Diablo3 Game modes

I'm sorry if this has alredy been suggested, but what i'm suggesting are 4 game modes for diablo 3::newhere:

-normal game
-trade game
- pvp game
-custom

When you search for a game you choose for which type of games you are
looking.

- normal game
You pretty much get the idea ;p

-trade game
A trade game is a game that takes place in a huge city. There are no
monsters or quest or drops in this mode , basiclly nothing that affects
your character, you can only interact with other people and trade with
them. Max number of players would be increased to a total of 32, since
you cannot use any skills in a trade game, and there are no creatures
or additional landscapes the game could support more players.you can
talk to other people but they can only see what you are saying if they
are close to you. People can only see what you are saying if they are
less than 10 feet away from you, like in real life, thuss preventing
spaming. The other thing of importance is, that you should be able
to search for games, and join them while in the trade game, making
the trade game a place where people would come to trade, to interact
with other people , finding new friends and looking for people to play
with or recruit people for clans. Speaking of clans , this could be a
feature for the bnet2. Clans could have their own custom city, that
only clanmembers can join.

-PVP game
PVP games are as the name implies a game that is meant for duels. Like
in the trade game there are no monsters or quest or drops , nothing
that affects or changes your character. The pvp game would support 16
players and would have multiple arenas in the city, each arena with it's
own landscape. One sand arena completely flat, a gras arena with rocks
that makes moving harder, an forest arena with tress that, makes
moving and fireing projectiles harder and...... Each arena would have
it's advantages and disadvantages.

-Custom games
All other game modes made by users(Diablo dota?) This if implemented
could drastically increase the lifespan of diablo and replayability.

Seems like a fine idea. As long as trading is also allowed during "normal games" then I have no problem with it. A big plus is that when searching for public games to join you don't have to wade through half of them because they are just trade or PvP. I'm also hoping they sort games by difficulty as well, it sucked not being able to join a nightmare game after you kill Baal.

I think Sacred 2 has got it just right.16 player free games no one is partied(but you can manually party) then 4 player quest games where you are autopartied.

As to trade games Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia has an interesting system where each player has there own shop although Im not saying it would work in D3 just thought its worth a mention(If gold were a currency it might work).

I had similar idea of a trade game. I would be some kind of trade city that could fit much more players than normal games.

But there should be somekind of trade place for each player where you could put your items that you want to trade so that you wouldn't personally have to use trade (like in d2). Everyone could go and check your items.

Might be that blizzard has some other thoughts for trading tho.

A trade city seems like a good idea, but as all things it will need alot of work to make it doable, especialy with currency in mind.

I would like to see a kind of auction building where items with full specs displayed and starting prices would be listed and could be sold to the highest bidder. There people could sit down (game pop caps would limit the ammount of chairs(or whatever)), and bid on the items that went on display. This would meen that when you sit down you must have all the credits (read currency) that you would like to spend in your characters inventory, and if you win an auction the item and your credits change places automatically.

I agree that it would need alot of work to get this wrking, and it might even be a bad idea to start with... but it surtently would be cool :)

Mmm, IF gold will be the main currency in the game, I do think having an option for players to use a sort of "AFK-able stall", would be nice.

Each "stall" would require rental fees, and lasts for one/two/three/etc days only based on the amount of gold you pay. There should also be a tax fee implemented to prevent usage abuse of these stalls. You dump whatever items you want to sell, put a price, then leave and continue your adventures.

Again, like what the TS said, this particular map is only used for these particular "stalls". It would be huge, thus shouting should be disabled to prevent bots/spammers/etc. The only way players can talk to one another is through a trade window. You know, something like that. This could be improved further as information of the game is still vague...

However, the "stalls" should be arranged in a neat, pleasant manner, not stacked or placed randomly all over the place.
In fact they should have permanent fixed positions in the map.
I don't want to start seeing fireworks and stars when I go shopping :whistling:

Re: Diablo3 Game modes

I had this idea already, albeit different.

A big Boooooo to trade city and PvP city. This isn't an MMO. We don't need huge spaces to do our business, not to mention that it would just eat up time and bandwidth to code a city that won't appear anywhere else. A big public space like that would just encourage Spamming.

In my idea, the three modes were Normal, Trade, PvP, and Auto-party. PvP allowed PvP while the others don't, Auto-party automatically allied you with the host, and trade mode allows 8 people into the server, but they can't leave town. Think of the game list as a line of shops. You might scroll through and see "Want to trade! Level 45 rings!" or "Can I get a blue level 9 axe? will pay" or "Elite Station! level 80+ uniques ONLY". It's like browsing a market, then going into the shop/game that interests you.

It may be a stretch, but I think some kind of leveled survival mode would be a nice change of pace. I'm thinking something similar to Call of Duty: WAW zombies or Horde Mode on Gears of War, but Diablo style.
This could even be the new twist on the secret cow level. Waves of hell bovine with increasing difficulty each level. I think something like this would keep you playing after you get bored MF'n or whatever. There could be one for each difficulty too. A lot of coordinated attacks would come into play too.

Many people already suggested similiar ideas, The Onslaught ... The Endless Dungeon, The Arena .. etc etc ... you name it ... it seems indeed that many people would really like to have that sort of thing or mode ... personally i think it's gonna make the end game very interesting and competitive.

I agree completely....I think it'd be cool too if maybe this "mode" could even be a MF run alternative...Not only would you be havin a blast surviving as long as you can...maybe every couple levels or so you get rewarded with item drops...i really hope for something like this because i could never stand the same repetitive MF runs over and over (although i'm sure this would get repetitive after a while too)

It could, but there are two ways to extend it IMO.

1-Adding patches every few months to make the monsters in that mode specifically harder than before (just monster stat modifications), and since this mode is separate from the normal game there won't be any serious balance issues to deal with.

2-Making the monsters difficulty scale versus the players in the game (kinda like the AI manager "Director" from Left4Dead) ... the better you play the harder the monsters become.
