Diablo Wiki Errors

Lywzc's 277 contributions also include the following files (of 81 in total), in which six runes are placed in an Ettin Axe (maximum five sockets):

https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Breathofdying.png
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Lastwish.png
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Silence.png

The remainder seem to be correct, although all variables are perfect and the same items are always used (Corona, Sacred Armor, Troll Nest, Ettin Axe, Hydra Bow, Cryptic Axe, Stalagmite...) but none are ethereal, even with the Indestructible or Repairs Durability bonus.

So... is anybody going to do anything about this? Remove them from their pages? Upload new versions?

And they're naked! I'mma conquer the whole game with muh weapon only.

But yeah... maybe someone can upload some pics. Hell maybe we can have a "lets fix the wiki" tourney. Everybody aims to make every item and screenshots it so we can upload a better pick!

Only if I get to do the screenie for Wind* :p
* . . . which the Wiki couldn't even bother to include; it merits nothing more than a (-).

@onderduiker Nice work!

Who is in charge of the wiki? Is it @Elly?
It's a wiki, so you can start a wiki account and find the courage to fix it yourself :p.

Of course, if you want to make a screenshot of a legit item, you will have to spend the runes.

The screenshots were obviously made with an item editor on single player, probably because the patch was pretty new at the time and nobody had the runes or the not even the socketables for them. Remember, when I started on SP, I found the whole Tal Rasha set and a few HRs before I had a monarch for Spirit.

Unfortunately I don't have the rune wealth for many of these! I do however have a very nice Grief roll, so maybe I'll add that in.

Elly, Flux and Rushster are all bureaucrats but, as krischan has pointed out, anybody should be able to request an account and then edit it themselves.

They've obviously used an editor...but an even more heinous crime...they put the weapon in the shield slot! (the horror)
To be fair, the primary purpose of those screenshots would be to reassure people that the rune order is correct (and perhaps also that the weapon type is valid, although ideally that would require screenshots of all valid weapon types). It's not realistic for a single person like Lywzc to complete a Rune Word grail just for this purpose (it's just a pity a Berserker Axe and Monarch weren't used instead of an Ettin Axe and a Troll Nest), since at the very least that would require the following:
Code:
Rune #
---------
Zod 1
Cham 3
Jah 12
Ber 9
Sur 7
Lo 10
Ohm 7
Vex 8
That's just for one of each: a second Dragon, Dream, Fortitude, Phoenix and Spirit require another 2 Jah, 1 Sur, 3 Lo and 3 Vex Runes... and if a screenshot were required for every valid weapon type, then creating a Last Wish axe, hammer and sword alone would require another 6 Jah, 2 Ber and 2 Sur Runes (and to be really thorough, creating a Breath of the Dying Amazon spear, axe, bow, crossbow, hammer, polearm, spear, staff and sword would require another 8 Zod (and Vex) Runes).

... you actually made a 'Wind'? o_O
Zyr's Breaking Wind topic in the Amazon Basin forums may be of interest...

I wouldn't expect a screenshot of every possible base item type...that would be silly especially if you consider all the non-elite base item types too.

I wouldn't expect that either, and it would be extremely silly to create and take screenshots of Rune Words in every possible item in which they could be made, and upload all of them to the wiki... but that was not what I suggested:

An axe, a hammer and a sword, not every possible axe, hammer and sword. Even then, that's probably an unnecessary level of thoroughness.

It might be worth uploading screenshots of common mistakes, though, like Insight in a spear or mace Rune Words in clubs or hammers.

In any case, my primary reason for this thread was to point out that Troll Nest can't have 4 sockets, not that the Wiki should be an exhaustive list of every possible runeword in every possible guise.

Yep, it's runeword grail related, but I haven't actually made it yet. I have the Sur set aside, but was undecided on the base.

I wanted to make it in something where I might actually use it, and so was leaning toward an assassin claw either with +Blade Fury or plain as an option for a Dragon Claw build. I have enough other gear to make up for slightly underpowered weapon that otherwise contributes to the build, you know, for fun?

I thought updating the Wiki might be a good reason to finally force a decision. But that story about Breaking Wind has opened up some new options . . . for a useless runeword.

You and I have a different understanding of the phrase 'valid weapon types', and my stressing all may have contributed to that, but I think I've already made myself clear(er) in the remainder of that post and the next, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

In any case, my primary reason for this thread was to point out that Troll Nest can't have 4 sockets, not that the Wiki should be an exhaustive list of every possible runeword in every possible guise.
Fair enough. In hindsight, I should have responded to GalaXyHaXz's post instead of yours, as it would have been a more appropriate response to the suggestion of a "lets fix the wiki" tourney. I may also have nettled you (and others) by suggesting you were being unfair to Lywzc, when it's clear he uploaded images of edited items, or that his example might be followed: if that's the case, then I apologize.

-----

In any case, I've edited the Breath of the Dying page to replace the Ettin Axe with an earlier image. Viewing the history of the Silence and Spirit pages revealed two other earlier images:

https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Silence_xbow.jpg
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Spirit_Protector_Shield.jpg

However, the Silence image doesn't display the name of the item (created in an earlier patch?) and the font in the Spirit image is different (a mod?). Otherwise, if anyone wants to just correct the four remaining mistakes, then it's probably easiest to upload new versions of the following:

https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Lastwish.png
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Phoenixshield.png
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Silence.png
https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/File:Spiritshield.png

The valid weapon types is a good idea, for at least some of the confusing runewords. I.e. Hoto and the whole "Mace vs staff". Typical bases that are used would help out more in determining the final result.

However, the Silence image doesn't display the name of the item (created in an earlier patch?) and the font in the Spirit image is different (a mod?).
Prior to 1.09 runewords didn't display the base item. Several of those are really old screenshots from the realms. Here is another example of something sorely outdated from 1.08-->https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Personalized_Runic_Item
I think that font is the Polish font on an English game. Don't quote me though, but it's been in several screens (including mods)
