    Diablo Clone?

What is the diablo clone? I have seen it mentioned many times but do not know what it means.

Diablo clone (or D Clone, or Uber D, etc) is a special monster added with the 1.1 patch. He only shows up sporadically and always drops (and is the only one who can drop) the annihilus charm (in hell difficulty). He's a pretty tough monster who looks like diablo but has some ridiculous stats like 95% resists, huge damage, and absurd life regen. There's a page on diabloii.net but I'm not sure where it is (and it's mostly blind speculation anyway). I'm sure someone will post the link for you when they read this. He's supposedly related to the SoJ counter that shows up on the realms from time to time. Good luck finding him.

    ok, here comes the link

    http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-uberdiablo.shtml

the way to summon him is by people selling sojs (stones of jordan), and when doing this you will hopefully see a counter at the top of the screen saying.
xxx stones of jordan sold to merchants.
When this counter hits a certain lvl, (different each time), It will say Diablo walks the earth.
After this, the first "unique" monster you run to will turn into the DiabloClone. (this means any monster that you always find at the same place like eldritch etc.)
Then, try to kill him. It isnt easy, but if you succed you will find the annihilus unique charm. and btw, he only summons at hell difficulty.

    thats about it

If you wanna know everything there is to know about D Clone ask dredd. He did a test over 1 night by selling over 700 sojs on the same server and making him spawn 8 times in 1 night.

There are ways of finding out what server people are selling sojs on and finding out what server you are on but i wont go into it unless you want to know specifically.

The best mods to look out for if you do fight D Clone are Prevent Monster Heal, Crushing Blow, LL, resists, oh and nice high damage too :teeth:

but you must make clear the number of sojs isnt the same each time. it can vary a lot. first time i saw him, the counter was 130 something. A few days ago he popped up at 210, but once i saw the counter at over 1000...

Thats because the counter doesn't reset every time he walks. The hypothesis is it resets at 9999 because nobody ever saw a counter with 5 digits.
The counter continues on and on, but the difference between walks also varies. That means it takes a different number of SOJs to make him walk each time, the common agreement is between 70 and 150.

If you know anything about non-ladder, its easy as hell getting soj. 99.9% of DClone walks are the result of nonladder soj sales.

Just cos he got 700 sojs doesn't automatically mean did any actual duping?

Anyhow... the point of the post was that he ran a test that gave the community conclusions regarding how dclone was spawned. Good Job.

Each IP has its own individual soj counter.

As well as people who jump to conclusions too fast.

Dredd is a respected member of these forums, and he dislikes cheating as much as you do. The only difference is that he probably expresses that a bit better than you, but hey.

They acquired the sojs through trading, fair and square. It's nice to see people against cheating, but there's no need to make a witch hunt out of it.
