Diablo 3, why are we coming back?

After reviewing all of the posted content on this site, the official diablo 3 site, and diablowiki, its hard to deny that diablo 3 looks amazing so far. The gameplay footage from blizzcon and other sources has shown multiple glamorous and exciting battle scenes. It all looks incredibly visceral, bloody, colorful, and engaging. But by immediately cutting to the front action to show us the live physical gameplay, Blizzard is neglecting the most necessary component in any multiple franchise installment promotion, focus on story continuity.

Whether its for a book, movie, or game one of the first things that any creators give to fans is an explanation for the sequel. And then its spread word of mouth like wildfire, "Oh yeah did you hear George Lucas is Making the next starwars episode return of the Jedi? I guess Han Solo gets rescued from the frozen carbonite and Luke battles Darth Vader on the Death star after he completes his jedi training! OMFG I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE". By doing this, fans are given a reason to get excited about watching the next movie, or diving into the next dungeon as the world is calling upon them once again to be apart of it as there are unresolved issues.

The issue that I'm having with Diablo 3's hype is that isn't showing us what those unresolved issues are. its showing us the hows and whats of what we are going to be playing, but not WHY's of "why" we will be playing. There hasn't been any definitive "The 3 brothers have re-united and once again the world of Sanctuary calls upon its heroes to defend their home" statements. The kind of statements that remind fans that there are still some unresolved issues in the world of sanctuary, and that they have a reason to come back and fight for it.

Is there anyone else out there afraid like me that the reason blizzard has neglected to promote the story is that its a weaker point of the overall game? That the reason they created a 3rd Diablo is shearly to bank on the franchises popularity despite a stagnant story line? Maybe I've walked straight into Blizzard's trap by making this assumption, and they'll end up slam dunking doubters like myself with a mind-blowingly epic plot finale, but until they give me some hope I'm going to continue worrying. Anyone else feel my unease with the way Blizzard is giving such little attention to the plot?
