gamescom is the world's largest computer games fair (more important than BlizzCon) and definitely worth a trip. ^^

Enjoying the speculation, another good article Nobbie.

Bring on the spear wielding death cats from Skovos .

I spent a lot of time thinking about where the story might go next and what locations. I so want them to put in a druid or some kinda shape shifting class in. I kinda agree that it won't be just the druid from d2 though. That they might wrap some kinda shamanistic wrapper around it or such for whatever the next locale will be.

Was a fun read and I really enjoyed it. At the same time, keeping my hopes a bit low, so I don't become disappointed. Thanks for sharing. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - why are people so obsessed with making the new class and new act location match? Virtually every post I've seen speculating on the new expansion makes the assumption they'll be linked but that's never been the case for any previous Diablo expansion.

Granted this is all just my personal opinion, I don't see them linked directly but I do see them linked in general themes a bit. The crusader is kinda the continuation of the Paladin. Both of which are very associated with fighting the undead. (Diablo 2 Maces and Paladin weapons always granted a high dmg bonus to undead.)

Along with the traditional rpg games association with the such classes battling the undead. Reaper of Souls was basically an expansion about fighting death and the undead. Granted that's all just my personal views but that's kinda how I see them linked.

I don't think locales and classes need to be directly linked or themed with one another, but it wouldn't surprise me if the dev team thought that they needed to have some kinda correlation even if remote.

Well, I'll tell you how I came to the conclusions:

In my first speculation blog from March I was still convinced that the next class (druid) is the barbarian kindred with their leader Vasily. I knew of the Skovos artworks, but couldn't find a connection between Skovos and the druids, so I thought we might visit Scosglen in expansion 2. The light dawned on me when I played on the WoW PTR the other day, where I have a worgen druid and a worgen hunter. The worgen is a (cursed) human shapeshifter, and both chars combined would make a wonderful new hybrid, based on Skovos. Added shaman abilities, and my dream class was born. ^^

In addition to the Druid concept art posted I remember Covetous Shen talking about being chased by a female Druid after he saw her naked. Fairly certain he mentioned going to Skovos as well.

So a Druid class seems like a good bet. As for locations I guess they could be Scosglen, Skovos and Xinsai (where Shen came from).

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that. ^^

Fmulder, I could confirm the Skovos/Shen part. Do you remember when or where that "naked female druid" part was? Was that druid on Xiansai?

You can get it if you click through the talks with Chen until "More Memories" pops up. That topic contains several stories (click several times) incl. the female druid story.
